Tacaíocht léirithe ag feisirí in Westminster d’acht teanga ó thuaidh

| Tuairisc.ie |

Tá tacaíocht léirithe ag cúigear polaiteoirí ó pháirtithe éagsúla in Westminster don éileamh ar acht Gaeilge don Tuaisceart.

Dúirt an brúghrúpa teanga Pobal go raibh litir seolta chuig Státrúnaí Thuaisceart Éireann ag cúigear feisirí de chuid pharlaimint na Breataine ar mhaithe lena dtacaíocht don éileamh ar acht teanga a chur in iúl.

Ba iad na feisirí a shínigh an litir i ndiaidh dóibh bualadh le Pobal in Westminster, Conor McGinn, Páirtí an Lucht Oibre, Liz Saville-Roberts, Plaid Cymru, Angus Brendan Mac Neil, SNP, agus Guto Bebb agus David TC Davies ar Tóraithe iad beirt.

Léirigh Liz Saville-Roberts a tacaíocht don éileamh ar an reachtaíocht teanga cheana nuair a labhair sí Gaeilge i bParlaimint Westminster mí Dheireadh Fómhair seo caite.

Measadh go bhféadfadh gurb í seo an chéad uair a labhraíodh an Ghaeilge i bparlaimint Westminster le breis is 100 bliain.

Ghabh Janet Muller, Stiúrthóir Pobal, buíochas leis na feisirí as a gcuid tacaíochta. Deir na feisirí sa litir gur chóir do lucht Westminster freagracht a ghlacadh as cás na reachtaíochta Gaeilge “mura dtig leis na polaiteoirí áitiúla teacht ar chomhréiteach go luath”.

“Molann Pobal na feisirí seo, a rinne dianmhachnamh ar an cheist agus a chinn gur cheart an Státrúnaí a ghríosú arís eile le gníomh a dhéanamh le feabhas a chur ar chosaint agus ar chaomhnú na Gaeilge sna sé chontae,” a dúirt Janet Muller.

Tá aighneas leanúnach idir Sinn Féin agus an DUP mar gheall ar cheist an achta Ghaeilge a bhí ar an dris chosáin is mó roimh aon iarracht a rinneadh go dtí seo tionól Stormont a athbhunú.
