Corpáin ag lobhadh ar thralaithe i bpasáistí in ospidéal Phort Láirge

Tá drochbhail chomh mór sin ar mharbhlann Ospidéal Ollscoile Port Láirge gur fágadh corpáin ar thralaithe ann agus sreabháin choirp ag sileadh leo, dar le ceathrar paiteolaithe.

Thug na paiteolaithe an méid sin le fios i litir a sheol siad chuig Grúpa Ospidéal an Deiscirt agus an Iardheiscirt.

Sa litir, a tháinig chun solais sa Waterford News and Star, dúirt an tOllamh Rob Landers agus na dochtúirí Fergus Mac Sweeney, Nigam Shah agus Christine Shilling nach raibh aon insint ar an tráma a chuireann an drochbhail ar áiseanna na marbhlainne ar mhuintir na marbh.

“Cheal áit stórála agus áiseann oighrithe cuí do chorpáin, ag luí ar thralaithe sna pasáistí a fhágtar formhór na gcorpán, agus sreabháin choirp ag sileadh ar an talamh go minic.

“Bíonn na corpáin ag lobhadh sna pasáistí, rud a fhágann go gcaitear an cónra a dhúnadh ag an tsochraid agus nach mbíonn daoine muinteartha ábalta an corp a fhaire de bharr na ngás óna lobhadh. Níl insint béil ar an tráma a bhaineann leis sin do mhuintir an mharbháin.

“De bharr a phlódaithe agus atá na háiseanna bíonn an pobal a thagann go dtí an marbhlann chun corp a aithint, nó i gcomhair sochraide, in ann an boladh agus an torann a thagann ó obair sheomra na scrúduithe iarbháis a thabairt faoi deara.”

Dúradh gur “mhasla do dhínit an mharbháin agus dá mhuintir”an drochbhail a bhí ar chúrsaí sa mharbhlann.

Dúirt an HSE go raibh cead faighte le déanaí ag an ospidéal i bPort Láirge marbhlann nua a thógáil agus go rabhthas ag súil go gcuirfí tús leis an obair sin roimh dheireadh na bliana.  Idir an dá linn, bhí socruithe eatramhacha á scrúdú faoi láthair chun dul i ngleic leis na fadhbanna sa mharbhlann, a dúradh.
