Ambasáid na hIndia in Éirinn a d’fhógair go raibh an t-úrscéal iomráiteach ar fáil anois i gceann de na teangacha clasaiceacha is sine ar domhan.

Tá an Taimilis ina teanga oifigiúil i Srí Lanca, in Singeapór agus in Tamil Nadu, stát san India.

Dúirt lucht Ambasáid na hIndia gur údar áthais dóibh go raibh saothar an Chadhnaigh, a síleadh a bheith “do-aistrithe”, ar fáil anois sa Taimilis.

R. Sivakumar a d’aistrigh an t-úrscéal atá aitheanta mar cheann de mhórshaothair litríocht na hÉireann agus an comhlacht Kalachuvadu a d’fhoilsigh.

Delighted to see the ‘untranslatable’ Cré na Cille by Máirtín Ó Cadhain translated by R. Sivakumar into #Tamil.

Tá sé i gceist ag Cló Iar-Chonnacht, an comhlacht ar leis an cóipcheart do Cré na Cille, go mbeadh an t-úrscéal ar fáil in os cionn scór teanga faoin mbliain 2025.

Chuir stiúrthóir Cló Iar-Chonnacht, Micheál Ó Conghaile, fáilte mhór roimh an t-aistriúchán is déanaí ar an leabhar.

“Is breá liom go bhfuil an t-aistriúchán seo ar fáil anois in Tamil. Tá aithne agam ar an bhfoilsitheoir le roinnt blianta de bharr a bheith ag freastal ar Aonach Leabhar Frankfurt agus thug sé le fios dom ceithre bliana ó shin gur mhaith leis leagan Tamil de Cré na Cille a fhoilsiú.

“Foilsitheoir díograiseach é a chreideann i scoth na litríochta ó theangacha éagsúla a fhoilsiú. Dár ndóigh tá suas le 30 teanga dá labhairt ar fad san India agus tá súil agam go mbeidh Cré na Cille ar fáil i roinnt teangacha eile de chuid na hIndia amach anseo,” arsa Micheál Ó Conghaile.

Foilsíodh le cúpla bliain anuas leaganacha Ollainnise, Seicise, Gearmáinise agus Béarla den saothar.

Bhuaigh aistriúchán Seicise Radvan Markus duais ag na gradaim liteartha is mó i bPoblacht na Seice.

Foilsíodh dhá leagan Béarla de shaothar Uí Chadhain in 2015, leagan le Alan Titley The Dirty Dust agus leagan le Liam Mac Con Iomaire agus Tim Robinson The Graveyard Clay.

Bhronn The Modern Language Association of America ar shaothar Mhic Con Iomaire agus Robinson a nGradam Lois Roth don aistriúchán in 2017.

Tá ag éirí go maith leis na leaganacha aistrithe agus tá léirmheasanna moltacha faighte acu ar nuachtáin agus irisí i bhfad agus i gcéin.
