Bheadh glactha ag acht teanga aon áit eile ar domhan seachas Tuaisceart Éireann – Linda Ervine

| Meabh Ni Thuathalain |

Ní chuirfeadh reachtaíocht teanga i dTuaisceart Éireann isteach ná amach orthu siúd nach labhraíonn Gaeilge, dar le Linda Ervine, gníomhaí aitheanta Gaeilge.

Dúirt Ervine go mbíonn daoine ó thuaidh nach bhfuil aon Ghaeilge acu ar a ‘suaimhneas’ nuair a chuirtear an méid sin in iúl dóibh.

Dúirt sí nuair a mhínítear a bhfuil i gceist leis an acht Gaeilge “go réasúnta do dhaoine” nach dtuigeann siad cén fáth gur ábhar conspóide é ar chor ar bith.

Tá Linda Ervine, atá ina stiúrthóir ar chúrsaí Gaeilge in ionad Turas in Oirthear Bhéal Feirste, ar cuairt ar Ghaeltacht Chorca Dhuibhne le grúpa foghlaimeoirí faoi láthair.

Cuireadh faoi agallamh an tseachtain seo í ar RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta agus ar Radio Kerry.

Seo an tríú bliain ag Gaeilgeoirí oirthear Bhéal Feirste seal a chaitheamh i mBaile an Fheirtéaraigh i gCiarraí.

Dúirt Ervine nár cheart go mbeadh ceist an achta Gaeilge ina cnámh spairne ó thuaidh.

“Dá mbeimis i dtír ar bith eile, áit ar bith eile ar domhan, bheadh glactha le reachtaíocht teanga cheana féin. Bheadh an comhthionól ag feidhmiú agus bheadh an obair ag dul ar aghaidh,” a dúirt sí.

Dúirt sí chomh maith gur minic scéalta míchruinne á bhfoilsiú ag na meáin ó thuaidh faoin acht Gaeilge, scéalta a chuireann constaicí roimh athbhunú rialtas Stormont.
