Fáilte ar Líne – the best new way to learn about Irish language and culture

| PEIG |

Céard é Fáilte ar Líne? | What is Fáilte ar Líne?

Is sraith cúrsaí é Fáilte ar Líne atá dírithe ar léargas a thabhairt dá rannpháirtithe ar oidhreacht shaibhir theanga agus cultúr na hÉireann. Múintear na cúrsaí ar fad, ó Irish 101 tríd go Irish 108, ar líne mar chuid den ghréasán Future Learn. Is í Ollscoil Chathair Bhaile Átha Cliath atá i mbun na cúrsaí a fhorbairt agus is iadsan a bhíonn á reáchtáil chomh maith.

Fáilte ar Líne is a series of courses which focuses on providing an insight to its participants into the rich heritage which surrounds the Irish language and culture. All of the courses, from Irish 101 through to Irish 108 are taught online as part of the Future Learn network. The team at Dublin City University (DCU) have developed the courses and they are in charge of the running them as well.

Leagann suíomh idirlín Fáilte ar Líne spriocanna na gcúrsaí amach. Seo iad a leanas:

  • Cúrsaí ar líne faoin nGaeilge agus faoi chultúr na hÉireann a chur ar fáil d’fhoghlaimeoirí (glantosaitheoirí) timpeall na cruinne.
  • Clár iomlán ar líne a fhorbairt de réir a chéile
  • Foghlaimeoirí a spreagadh le cuairt a thabhairt ar Éirinn agus ar na Gaeltachtaí
  • Obair i gcomhpháirt le hinstitiúidí idirnáisiúnta eile

The Fáilte ar Líne website lays out the aims of courses. They are as follows:

  • Develop online courses in Irish language and culture for ab initio learners from across the globe.
  • Develop a full online programme in due course
  • Encourage learners to visit Ireland and, in particular, the Gaeltachtaí
  • Collaborate with other international institutions

Maireann gach cúrsa ar feadh ceithre seachtaine agus bíonn ceithre uair stáidéir le déanamh in aghaidh na seachtaine ar an meán. Cuirtear solúbthacht go mór chun tosaigh i gcur chuige na gcúrsaí agus bíonn rochtain ag na rannpháirtithe ar ábhair thacaíochta agus ar chlár teachtaireachtaí lena linn.

Each course lasts for a total of four weeks and there will be an average of 4 hours of study time per week. Flexibility is one of the significant benefits of the approach used by the DCU team and participants have access to support materials and message boards which can used throughout the courses.
