PEIG.ie to be launched welcoming in a new era for the Irish language online

PEIG.ie’s new website will be launched at Oireachtas na Samhna this year at 13:00 on Saturday the 2nd of November in the City West Suite in the City West Hotel. This launch welcomes in a new era for the Irish language online. PEIG.ie focuses on providing news, events, job vacancies and information to the Irish language community and to the learners of the language. The new website is a leap forward in improving the standard of the service that PEIG.ie provides to its users.

Dr Brian Ó Raghallaigh will officially launched the site, a person who has an in-depth knowledge of the Irish language online through his role dealing with Logainm.ie and Dúchas.ie as an Assistant Professor (Research Projects) in Fiontar & Scoil na Gaeilge, Dublin City University.

Niall Comer, President of Conradh na Gaeilge says:

“Today marks a significant progression for the Irish language community online with the launch of the new PEIG.ie website. We are grateful for the support of Dr Brian Ó Raghallaigh who helped the team during the rebuild tackle some tricky technical issues relating to the mapping system. The Irish language map on PEIG.ie has been made possible by progress in the digitisation of Ireland’s place names, work which Brian and his team can we immensely proud of.”

Dónal Ó Gallachóir, Multimedia and Awareness Hub Executive with PEIG.ie says:

“We have put in a serious amount of work into this new site and we are proud to finally officially launch it. Significant improvements have been made to its functionality and we believe it is now ready for the internet of this day and age. We hope the online community will benefit from using PEIG.ie, whether its daily news, local events, a new job or information about the Irish language they seek.”

All who wish to attend the PEIG.ie launch are more than welcome. During the launch prizes will be presented to the winners of the competition that PEIG.ie has organised. These prizes are a €250 voucher for Ticketmaster and an Amazon Echo Dot (Alexa). More information about the competition can be found on PEIG.ie.
