‘Seasaimid go daingean le hÉirinn’ – Donald Tusk

| Tuairisc.ie | ,

“Seasaimid go daingean le hÉirinn.”

Sin an teachtaireacht a bhí ag  Uachtarán na Comhairle Eorpaí Donald Tusk don Taoiseach Leo Varadkar inniu.

Bhí comhrá gutháin ag Tusk tráthnóna le Varadkar agus bhí comhrá gutháin aige freisin le Príomh-Aire na Breataine, Boris Johnson.

Thug Tusk le fios go ndúirt sé le Johnson go raibh meon “oscailte” ag an AE i leith na moltaí Breatimeachta is déanaí ó Rialtas na Breataine ach nach rabhthas “cinnte” fúthu.

Today I had two phone calls on #Brexit, first with Dublin then with London.

My message to Taoiseach @LeoVaradkar: We stand fully behind Ireland.

My message to PM @BorisJohnson: We remain open but still unconvinced.

— Donald Tusk (@eucopresident) October 3, 2019

De réir tuairiscí i nuachtáin áirithe i Sasana atá ar son an Bhreatimeachta, tá brú á chur ag an AE ar Rialtas na hÉireann géilleadh mar gheall ar cheist an chúlstop agus teorainn na hÉireann.

Leag Príomh-Aire na Breataine a phlean do mhargadh Breatimeachta faoi bhráid an AE inné agus dúirt an tAE go scrúdófar ‘go hoibiachtúil’ na moltaí ann.

Mhol Johnson prótacal nua in áit an chúlstop.

Faoin moladh d’fhanfadh Tuaisceart Éireann i margadh aonair na hEorpa d’earraí mar chuid de “zón rialacháin uile-oileánda” nua.

Dúirt an Taoiseach Leo Varadkar inniu go bhfuil sé ag dul ó thuiscint air conas a d’fhéadfaí seiceálacha custaim idir deisceart agus tuaisceart na hÉireann a sheachaint faoi phlean Johnson.

Dúirt an Taoiseach chomh maith go raibh ceist faoi a dhaonlathaí is a bhí an moladh.

Ba chóir, a dúirt sé, go mbeadh beannacht mhuintir na hÉireann, thuaidh agus theas, ag na socruithe a dhéanfaí amach anseo.

Faoi mholadh Johnson, chaithfeadh Tionól Stormont a mbeannacht a thabhairt do na socruithe agus ansin vótáil gach ceithre bliana chun iad a choinneáil nó a mhalairt. Ní léir cad a tharlódh sa chás go ndiúltófaí in Stormont do na socruithe.

I ráiteas ó pharlaimint na hEorpa inniu dúradh nach raibh moltaí Johnson inghlactha “beag ná mór”.
