Smugairle róin nimhneach tagtha i dtír i nGaeltacht na Gaillimhe

| Tuairisc.ie | ,

Tá rabhadh tugtha ag Comhairle Cathrach na Gaillimhe faoi smugairle róin contúirteach atá tagtha i dtír ar thrá i nGaeltacht na Gaillimhe.

Deir an Chomhairle go bhfuil tuairiscí faighte acu go bhfuil smugairle an tseoil tagtha i dtír ar Thrá na gCeann gar do Bhearna i nGaeltacht Chonamara.

Tá smugairle an tseoil ar an mbeithíoch mara is éasca a aithint — d’fhéadfadh an bolgán gealghorm a bheith suas le 30cm ar leithead agus d’fhéadfadh sé éirí chomh hard le 15cm os cionn an uisce. D’fhéadfadh na braiteoga a shíneann amach as an mbolgán a bheith suas le 30 méadar ar fad.

Thug an Chomhairle rabhadh don phobail a bheith airdeallach má bhíonn siad cois fharraige sa gceantar. Deir siad go bhfuil smugairle an tseoil fós in ann ga a chur ionat fiú agus é marbh agus go mbíonn an-phian ag baint le ga an smugairle sin.

Mhol taighde a rinne eolaithe in Ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh cúpla bliain ó shin comhairle nua chun an dochar a bhaint as ga smugairle an tseoil. Moladh gur cheart an ga a ghlanadh le fínéagar, na braiteoga a bhaint as an gcraiceann, agus an ball leonta a chur in uisce te (45ºC) ar feadh 45 nóiméad.
