  • ‘Tá bealach ann le teacht ar mhargadh’ – Varadkar agus Johnson

‘Tá bealach ann le teacht ar mhargadh’ – Varadkar agus Johnson

Tá sé tugtha le fios ag an Taoiseach agus ag Príomh-Aire na Breataine go gcreideann siad go bhfuil “bealach ann le teacht ar mhargadh” maidir leis an mBreatimeacht.

Bhuail an Taoiseach Leo Varadkar tráthnóna le Príomh-Aire na Breataine Boris Johnson i dTeach Thornton in Wirral Shasana mar ar phléigh siad an tsáinn Breatimeachta.

Chuir an bheirt comhráiteas amach i ndiaidh a gcruinnithe:

“Bhí mionphlé fiúntach ag an Taoiseach agus ag an bPríomh-Aire. Creideann siad beirt i gcónaí gur féidir teacht ar mhargadh. D’aontaigh siad go bhfeictear dóibh beirt go bhfuil bealach ann le teacht ar mhargadh.”

Dúradh gur dhírigh na cainteanna ar na dúshláin a bhaineann le cúrsaí custaim agus le ceist na tola. Phléigh siad chomh maith bealaí a bhféadfaí an caidreamh idir an dá thír a neartú, ag áireamh an caidreamh maidir leis an Tuaisceart.

Shocraigh an bheirt acu go ndéanfaí tuilleadh machnaimh ar na cainteanna agus go leanfadh a gcuid oifigeach leis an dianphlé.

Rachaidh an Taoiseach i gcomhairle anois le Tascfhórsa an AE.

Buailfidh rúnaí Breatimeachta na Ríochta Aontaithe, Stephen Barclay, maidin amárach le príomh-idirbheartaí Breatimeachta an AE, Michel Barnier.

Dúirt Michel Barnier inné nach “féidir” leis an Aontas teacht ar shocrú leis an Ríocht Aontaithe faoi láthair.

“Le bheith fírinneach faoi chúrsaí, agus iarracht á dhéanamh againn a bheith oibiachtúil faoi, ag an tráth seo ní féidir linn dáiríre teacht ar chomhaontú.

“…Is é an rud faoi, áfach, go bhfuil brú ama orainn. Níl ach seachtain againn go dtí cruinniú mullaigh na Comhairle Eorpaí,” arsa Barnier.
