17% de dhaoine a lorg seirbhís i nGaeilge ón stát – pobalbhreith

| Tuairisc.ie | ,

Deir 17% de dhaoine ó dheas agus 5% de dhaoine ó thuaidh gur lorg siad seirbhísí i nGaeilge ón stát nó ó chomhlacht seirbhíse poiblí.

Tá ceist an éilimh ar sheirbhísí stáit trí Ghaeilge ina hábhar díospóireachta le fada an lá agus bíonn an ceangal idir easpa seirbhísí Gaeilge agus an easpa éilimh ar a leithéid go mór sa treis sa phlé sin.

Is léir ó phobalbhreith nua a rinne Kantar Millward Browne do Chonradh na Gaeilge, áfach, gur mhaith le cuid mhór daoine go mbeadh fáil ar a thuilleadh seirbhísí i nGaeilge, go háirithe sa Ghaeltacht.

64% de dhaoine ó dheas a dúirt gur chóir go mbeadh gach seirbhís stáit ar fáil as Gaeilge do phobal na Gaeltachta.

Gheall Aire Stáit na Gaeltachta Seán Kyne i dTithe an Oireachtais inné go  gcinnteodh an reachtaíocht teanga nua atá geallta le fada go mbeadh Gaeilge líofa ag oibrithe stáit sa Ghaeltacht.

Sa Tuaisceart amháin a cuireadh roinnt de na ceisteanna sa phobalbhreith nua faoi sheirbhísí Gaeilge agus faoi chomharthaíocht Ghaeilge.

D’aontaigh 37% de na daoine a ceistíodh ó thuaidh leis an áitiú go gcuideodh níos mó comharthaí bóthair i nGaeilge le “normalú” na teanga. 33% a d’easaontaigh leis sin agus níor thug 30% aon tuairim faoin scéal.

49% de dhaoine ó thuaidh a dúirt gur chóir an leibhéal céanna tacaíochta a chur ar fáil do dhaltaí le riachtanais foghlama i scoileanna Gaeilge agus a chuirtear ar fáil i scoileanna Béarla. 23% a thug le fios nár cheart an leibhéal céanna tacaíochta a chur ar fáil do dhaltaí le riachtanais foghlama i scoileanna Gaeilge. Níor thug 28% aon tuairim faoin scéal.

Dúirt 35% gur cheart seirbhísí, comharthaí agus turais i nGaeilge a chur ar fáil ag na láithreacha turasóireachta is mó tóir sa Tuaisceart, amhail Clochán an Aifir agus Músaem an Titanic. 34% a thug le fios go mbeidís i gcoinne na nithe sin a bheith ar fáil i nGaeilge agus níor thug 31% aon tuairim faoin scéal.
