Imní léirithe ag oibrithe siopaí peataí faoin éileamh ar hamstair

| NÓS Suíomh Gréasáin |

Tá imní léirithe ag oibrithe siopaí peataí faoin éileamh atá ann ar hamstair, coiníní, muca guine agus ainmhithe beaga eile le cúpla seachtain anuas. Dúirt oibrí amháin i siopa peataí i mBaile Átha Cliath go bhfuil ardú mór tagtha ar líon na dtuismitheoirí atá ag teacht isteach chuig a shiopa le cúpla lá anuas ag lorg ainmhithe beaga dá bpáistí, a bhfuil “leadrán” orthu agus iad sáinnithe sa teach.

D’fhógair an Taoiseach Leo Varadkar aréir beartais dhiana nua le dul i ngleic le scaipeadh an víris chorónaigh in Éirinn. Ní bheidh cead ag daoine dul níos faide ná dhá chiliméadar óna gcuid tithe go dtí Domhnach Cásca ach amháin le dul ag obair nó le bia a cheannacht.

Tá imní ar lucht na siopaí peataí nach dtabharfar aire mar is ceart do na hainmhithe beaga nó go gcaillfear spéis iontu nuair a bheidh an ghéarchéim thart.

“Is geall leis an Nollaig é, ar bhealach, agus ní rud maith é sin. Ceannaítear madraí agus peataí eile do pháistí aimsir na Nollag agus bíonn na tearmainn ainmhithe lán díobh faoi dheireadh mhí Eanáir. Tá an rud céanna ag tarlú anois le hainmhithe beaga. Ba cheart go mbeifeá réidh le haire a thabhairt d’ainmhí ar feadh a shaoil sula gceannófá é — ná ceannaigh ainmhí toisc go bhfuil leadrán ort féin nó ar do pháistí.

“Tá daoine eile ann a bhíonn ag glaoch orainn le fáil amach an dtógfaidh muid ainmhí atá acu cheana féin uathu mar gheall go bhfuil faitíos orthu gur féidir le hainmhithe an víreas a scaipeadh i measc daoine. Níl aon chruthúnas ann go dtí seo gur féidir le duine an víreas corónach a tholgadh ó mhadra agus níor cheart fáil réidh le peataí tí mar gheall air sin,” a dúirt duine a oibríonn i siopa peataí i mBaile Átha Cliath.

Tá na siopaí peataí fós ar oscailt faoi láthair mar gheall ar an tseirbhís riachtanach a chuireann siad ar fáil d’úinéirí peataí ó thaobh bia d’ainmhithe de.
