Ábhar i nGaeilge á fheiceáil ag os cionn milliún duine ar Twitter gach lá

Feiceann breis agus milliún duine ábhar Gaeilge ar Twitter gach lá, de réir taighde nua.

Is é an tOllamh Kevin Scannell, saineolaí aitheanta ar úsáid na Gaeilge ar líne, a d’fhoilsigh an t-eolas nua agus anailís déanta aige ar bhreis agus 300 cuntas Twitter a chuireann ábhar Gaeilge amach go laethúil.

Mhaígh an tOllamh Scannell go bhfeiceann os cionn 1,200,000 duine ábhar Gaeilge de chineál éicint ar an suíomh gach lá.

Chun teacht ar an eolas sin, rinne an tOllamh Scannell scagadh ar na cuntais Twitter uile a chuireann ábhar i nGaeilge amach go laethúil. Rinne sé anailís ansin ar leantóirí na gcuntas sin agus fuair sé amach go bhféadfadh ábhar Gaeilge a bheith á fheiceáil ag os cionn 1,200,000 duine ar Twitter gach lá.

Na mionsonraí: D’aimsigh mé 309 cuntas a chuireann amach ábhar i nGaeilge ar bhonn laethúil (ar an meán, sa bhliain 2020). Ansin d’úsáid mé API Twitter chun anailís a dhéanamh ar leantóirí na gcuntas sin; 1.2M cuntas uathúil ina measc.

Tá go leor staidéir déanta ag an Ollamh Scannell ar úsáid mionteangacha ar líne. Chruthaigh sé an suíomh IndigenousTweets.com, ar a bhfuil an taighde nua seo bunaithe, chun éachtaint a thabhairt ar an úsáid a bhaintear as mionteangacha ar Twitter
