  • ‘Aiféala ar bith’ ar Gregory Campbell faoina ráitis fhrith-Ghaeilge agus gearán faoi seolta go Westminster ag dalta scoile
<a-href="https://tuairisc.ie"-class="credit-tuairisc"-target="-blank"-rel="noopener-noreferrer"></a>-‘aifeala-ar-bith’-ar-gregory-campbell-faoina-raitis-fhrith-ghaeilge-agus-gearan-faoi-seolta-go-westminster-ag-dalta-scoile

‘Aiféala ar bith’ ar Gregory Campbell faoina ráitis fhrith-Ghaeilge agus gearán faoi seolta go Westminster ag dalta scoile

Deir an Feisire Parlaiminte de chuid an DUP Gregory Campbell nach bhfuil aon chuimhneamh aige leithscéal a ghabháil faoin ráiteas is déanaí uaidh inar dhein sé beag is fiú den Ghaeilge.

Dúirt Gregory Campbell gur léirigh an cáineadh a rinneadh air mar gheall ar a ráiteas magúil faoin nGaeilge “an chuid is measa” de lucht ceannais an phoblachtánachais.

‘Unbowed, unbroken, so no, Je Ne Regrette!’ arsa Campbell i bpostáil faoin gconspóid a chuir sé ar Facebook aréir.

Rinne Sinn Féin, an SDLP agus an páirtí Alliance cáineadh géar ar Campbell an tseachtain seo mar gheall ar phostáil a chuir sé ar a leathanach Facebook ag fonóid faoin nGaeilge.

Thagair an feisire parlaiminte don chlár Gaeilge Nazi sa Ghaeltacht agus do ráiteas conspóideach a rinne sé féin mar mhagadh faoin nGaeilge in 2014.

“The humorous bit was when he was supposed to have spoken Irish with a German accent. I vill not be tempted to ask vot is dis curried yoghurt mein herr,” a scríobh Campbell.

Tagairt ab ea ‘curried yoghurt’ d’eachtra in 2014 inar cuireadh cosc lae ar Campbell labhairt i gComhthionól Stormont nuair a rinne sé ‘scigaithris’ ar an abairt ‘Go raibh maith agat, a Cheann Comhairle’.

“Curry my yoghurt can coca coalyer,” a dúirt Campbell mar mhagadh le linn díospóireachta sa chomhthionól.

Tá ráite ag Sinn Féin gur chóir do cheannaire an DUP Arlene Foster labhairt amach i gcoinne “ionsaí náireach” Gregory Campbell ar an nGaeilge.

Bhí Aire Dlí Stormont agus ceannaire pháirtí an Alliance, Naomi Long, ar dhuine eile de na daoine a cháin Campbell as filleadh ar a sheanmhaslaí. Iompar “gangaideach” a bhí ar bun aige, a dúirt Long.

D’fhógair an grúpa feachtais an Dream Dearg inniu go raibh gearán faoi Campbell curtha faoi bhráid Choimisinéir na gCaighdeán in Westminster ag dalta as Gaelcholáiste Dhoire. Mhaígh Adam Mac Giolla Easbuic, 12, go raibh caint Campbell “gránna agus dímheasúil”.

Ach chuir Campbell cos i bhfeac aréir agus dúirt nach raibh aon áiféala air maidir lena ráitis faoin nGaeilge.

Mhaígh Campbell go ndéantar dearmad go minic ar an méid a dúirt Gerry Adams i ndiaidh na conspóide ‘Curry my yoghurt’ in 2014. Mhaígh sé gur ag tagairt go díreach don scéal sin a bhí Adams nuair a dúirt sé: “Is é an pointe ná na bastaird seo a bhriseadh – sin é an pointe”.

Dúirt Campbell nárbh amhlaidh go ndearna sé “iarracht d’aon ghnó an chuid is measa ar fad de cheannairí an phoblachtánais a léiriú ach gur mar sin a tharla”.

Mar seo a chríochnaigh Campbell a phostáil ar Facebook aréir: “Unbowed, unbroken, so no, Je Ne Regrette!”

Mhaígh sé i bpostáil eile gurb amhlaidh gur “biogóidí” a bhí i gcuid de lucht a cháinte agus nach raibh aon acmhainn grinn acu.

Tacaíonn sé féin leis an éagsúlacht teangacha, a dúirt sé.
