‘Céim mhór athbheochana’ – tacaíocht rialtais faighte ag Scoil Ghaeilge Mhanann

Tá dul chun cinn déanta sna hiarrachtaí teanga bheo a dhéanamh de Ghaeilge Mhanann agus tacaíocht le cur ar fáil ag rialtas an oileáin do bhunscoil Mhanainnise.

Is í Bunscoill Ghaelgagh an t-aon scoil Manainnise ar an oileán agus tá sé fógartha ag rialtas Mhanann go dtiocfaidh an scoil faoi bhainistíocht roinn oideachais an oileáin ó mhí Mheán Fómhair ar aghaidh.

Fágann an scéal go mbeidh múinteoirí na scoile fostaithe ag an rialtas agus go mbeidh an bhunscoil in ann leas a bhaint as seirbhisí na roinne oideachais, seirbhisí riachtanas speisialta ina measc.

Bhí an scoil á rith ag an gcarthanacht oideachais Mooinjer Veggey roimhe seo, ach bhí deireadh le teacht leis an gconradh a bhí acu leis an roinn oideachais ag deireadh na míosa seo.

Thart ar 70 dalta a fhreastalaíonn ar Bhunscoill Ghaelgagh faoi láthair.

Dúirt Aire Oideachais Mhanann, Alex Allinson, gur dlúthchuid de na hiarrachtaí teanga bheo a dhéanamh den Mhanainnis í an scoil agus gur thug an obair a bhí ar bun acu tuiscint níos fearr do dhaoine ar chultúr an oileáin.

Ní raibh ach beagán os cionn 600 cainteoir Manainnise ann ag tús na nóchaidí agus osclaíodh Bunscoill Ghaelgagh in 2001 mar chuid d’athbheochan na teanga. Tuairiscíodh go raibh níos mó ná 1,800 cainteoir Manainnise ar an oileán in 2015.

Dúirt an eagraíocht Culture Vannin gur léiriú eile a bhí sa scéal seo go raibh Gaeilge Mhanann ag dul ó neart go neart.
