‘Údar mór imní’ – athbhreithniú le déanamh ar chás 19 páiste a raibh obráid droma acu in Ospidéal Leanaí Shráid an Teampaill

| tuairisc | , ,

Cothaíodh amhras nuair nár éirigh go maith le leanaí ar cuireadh obráidí casta droma orthu agus a raibh deacrachtaí agus ionfhabhtuithe go leor acu tar éis na hobráide

‘Údar mór imní’ – athbhreithniú le déanamh ar chás 19 páiste a raibh obráid droma acu in Ospidéal Leanaí Shráid an Teampaill

Tá athbhreithniú seachtrach ordaithe ag Feidhmeannacht na Seirbhíse Sláinte ar ghnéithe den mháinliacht ortaipéideach in Ospidéal Ollscoile na Leanaí, Sráid an Teampaill i mBaile Átha Cliath.

Déanfaidh saineolaí as an Ríocht Aontaithe athbhreithniú ar obráidí droma a rinne comhairleoir san ospidéal sin toisc gur thug athbhreithniú inmheánach a rinneadh san ospidéal faoi deara gur tharla “eachtraí tromchúiseacha a bhain le hobráidí droma” ansin.

Dúirt FSS nach raibh aon obráidí á ndéanamh ag an dochtúir sin faoi láthair agus go bhfuil an scéal curtha faoi bhráid Chomhairle Dhochtúirí Leighis na hÉireann.

I ráiteas an FSS, dúradh: “Tá an t-athbhreithniú seo á chur ar bun de bharr na húdair mhóra imní a tháinig chun solais in Ospidéal na Leanaí an bhliain seo caite ó thaobh na ndrochthorthaí a bhí ar obráidí droma ansin, an cur chuige máinliachta droma agus fearais ionphlandaithe a bhí in úsáid gan chead.”

I ndeireadh na bliana seo caite, léiríodh imní faoi shábháilteacht othar maidir le roinnt bheag leanaí a raibh spina bifida orthu agus a chuaigh faoi scian in Ospidéal na Leanaí. Cothaíodh amhras nuair nár éirigh go maith le leanaí ar cuireadh obráidí casta droma orthu agus a raibh deacrachtaí agus ionfhabhtuithe go leor acu tar éis na hobráide. Tharla dhá chás máinliachta a bhí an-tromchúiseach go deo i mí Iúil agus mí Mheán an Fhómhair 2022, a deir an FSS.

Choimisiúnaigh Sláinte Leanaí Éireann dhá athbhreithniú – athbhreithniú inmheánach agus ceann eile ag saineolaithe as ospidéal na leanaí i mBostún. Iarradh orthu an cúram a thug an comhairleoir sin do 17 leanbh a scrúdú.

“Ar an drochuair bhásaigh leanbh amháin den seachtar déag sin ó shin agus bhí fadhbanna tromchúiseacha ag leanaí eile tar éis a n-obráide,” a dúirt an FSS.

“Bhí dúshláin mhóra ag na hothair sin agus ag a dteaghlaigh roimhe sin de bharr an ghalair a bhí orthu agus tá an-aiféala ar Shláinte Leanaí Éireann faoi na heasnaimh a bhí ina gcúram anseo. Tá Sláinte Leanaí Éireann i dteagmháil leanúnach leis an teaghlaigh agus leanfaimid orainn ag cur aon tacaíocht atá ag teastáil uathu ar fáil dóibh.”

Dúirt an Dr Colm Henry, Príomhoifigeach Cliniciúil FSS, go mbeadh an t-athbhreithniú curtha i gcrích chomh luath in Éirinn agus a d’fhéadfaí agus roimh dheireadh na bliana seo.

“D’fhéadfadh go mbeadh torthaí agus moltaí ón athbhreithniú seo a chuirfear i bhfeidhm i ngach ospidéal de chuid Sláinte Leanaí Éireann agus in ospidéal nua na leanaí. Foilseofar na torthaí chomh maith.”
