    DRIVE- IN-DRÁMA

    FIACH

    Dráma nua le Philip Doherty

‘Téann Garda reibiliúnach sa tóir ar mhaistín áitiúil agus leanann isteach sa Domhan Thíos é’.

Ionad: Baile na hAbhann, Conamara, Co. na Gaillimhe

    Lúnasa 2020

Tá ríméad ar an gcomhlacht drámaíochta Fíbín a fhógairt go mbeidh an chéad léiriú domhanda de Fiach, dráma nua le Philip Doherty, á stáitsiú sa tréimhse géarchéime seo, i ndomhan atá iompaithe bun os cionn agus é cruthaithe go speisialta d’Aois na Paindéime. Feicfidh lucht féachana, agus iad ag suí ina gcarranna féin, an Garda sa tóir ar charr éalaithe i scéal atá lán de ghrá, de phaisean agus de spiorad an duine.

Beidh an léargas áiféiseach seo taobh amuigh, le ceol beo, soilsiú spleodrach, éifeachtaí speisialta agus scáileán mór, ag glacadh ionspioráide ó mhiotais ársa Orpheus agus Eurydice agus An Toraíocht.

Ní féidir a shéanadh gur tréimhse thar a bheith dúshlánach í seo do dhaoine mórthimpeall an domhain, agus ní eisceacht iad na healaíontóirí amharclannaíochta. Ach bronann gach dúshlán deis dul i muinín na cruthaitheachta, agus tá seó amuigh faoi aer á léiriú ag Fíbín a bheidh ag cloí go docht le treoirlínte sláinte agus sábháilteachta Fheidhmeannach na Seirbhíse Sláinte. Beidh deis ag an lucht féachana, sa seó nua seo, éalú ó cheithre bhalla a dtí fhéin agus iad fhéin a thumadh in eispéireas amharclannaíochta ar leith, i suíomh ar leith atá slán sábháilte.

Tá sé mar aidhm ag Fíbín a bheith ar na chéad léiritheoirí ar dhráma amharclannaíochta ‘drive-in’, agus tá muid buíoch go bhfuilimid in ann obair a chur ar fáil d’ealaíontóirí cruthaitheacha, go háitiúil agus go náisiúnta, le linn na tréimhse géarchéime seo. Is seó é Fiach a mbeidh déantóirí amharclannaíochta, idir aisteoirí, dearthóirí, tógálaithe seit ag comhoibriú le chéile chun seó beó do lucht féachana áitiúil a chruthú. Múineann gá seift. Agus beidh muide ag treabhadh linn!

‘Is breá le Fíbín léirithe amuigh faoin aer a chruthú, go speisialta i dtimpeallacht álainn Chonamara. Níl aon dabht ach go raibh orainn a bheith ag smaoineamh lasmuigh den bhosca ar an seó seo, ach tá foireann iontach againn le teacht i dtír ar na dúshláin atá cruthaithe ag srianta Covid. Tá muid ag súil le hionad Fíbín a aistriú ó bhonn go mbeidh an lucht féachana in ann teacht agus taitneamh a bhaint as an seó agus iad slán sábháilte ina gcarranna féin.’

    Press Release:

The show must go on - Ireland’s first drive-in theatre show

    FIACH

A new play by Philip Doherty

A rebel Garda chases a local hoodlum into the Underworld’.

Venue: Baile na hAbhann, Conamara, County Galway

    August 2020

It is with great excitement, that Fíbín Theatre Company can officially announce, the World Premiere of Philip Doherty’s Fiach; a new drama presented in a theatrical world created especially for the Pandemic Age, where spectators, sitting in their own vehicles, will witness a thrilling car chase in a blistering tale of love, passion and the power of the human spirit. This outdoor spectacle, with live music, projection and special effects, is inspired by the ancient myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and An Toraíocht.

This truly is a challenging time for people around the world, and theatre artists are no exception. But with every challenge comes the opportunity for creativity, and Fíbín have planned an open air show that is in keeping with the health and safety guidelines of the HSE. This new car-show will give audiences a chance to escape the monotony of the four walls and immerse themselves in an epic theatrical experience, provided in a COVID safe, unique setting Fíbín aims to be the first makers of a drive-in theatre show in Ireland, during the pandemic, and are grateful to be able to provide work for creative artists, both local and national, during these uncertain times. Fiach is a show where theatre practitioners, from actors, to designers, to set builders, can again collaborate in making a live show for a live- communal audience. Where there’s a will there's a way. After all- The show must go on!

‘At Fíbín we love making outdoor theatre, especially with the stunning backdrop of Connemara. We certainly have had to think outside the box with this show, but we have a great team in place to overcome the challenges of the restrictions of Covid. We’re really looking forward to transforming Fíbín’s grounds into a drive-in experience, where audiences can come and enjoy the show from the safety of their vehicle’.
