Níos mó tvuíteanna Gaeilge á seoladh anois ná riamh

Deir an Dr Kevin Scannell, duine de na saineolaithe is mó ar domhan ar úsáid na Gaeilge ar líne, go bhfuil níos mó á scríobh ar Twitter anois sa teanga ná mar a bhí aon uair roimhe seo.

“Is rud maith é seo i mo thuairimse — go bhfuil úsáid na Gaeilge ag fás sna meáin shóisialta ar comhchéim le teangacha móra. Ní hamhlaidh do mhionteangacha eile,” a dúirt sé.

Tháinig laghdú ar na figiúirí maidir le húsáid na Gaeilge ar Twitter sa bhliain 2021 ach ag fás arís atá úsáid na Gaeilge ó shin.

Thart ar 10,000 tvuít sa mhí a bhí á seoladh i nGaeilge in 2014 ach tá sin ardaithe anois go 40,000.

“Tá an fás céanna le feiceáil sna huimhreacha don idirlíon ina iomláine freisin, agus an laghdú céanna sa bhliain 2021,” a deir Kevin Scannell.

Tá graf déanta ag Kevin Scannell den líon focal Gaeilge a úsáidtear ar líne gach mí, ón bhliain 2014, agus tá an fás céanna tagtha ar an méid Gaeilge atá in úsáid ar líne i gcoitinne.

“Tosaíonn an graf seo ag deireadh 2014 nuair a tháinig Tuairisc ar an bhfód, rud a mhéadaigh an méid Gaeilge ar líne go suntasach,” ar sé.

Ag tús na bliana 2014 bhí thart ar 750,000 focal Gaeilge á scríobh ar líne sa mhí ach thart ar 900,000 focal a bhíonn i gceist anois.

Bhí an figiúr seo ag an bpointe is airde riamh ag tús na bliana 2020, tráth a raibh beagnach 1,200,000 focal Gaeilge á scríobh ar líne gach mí.
