PEIG.ie Newsletter

Our daily newsletter is a useful and valued source of information on what is going on, both within and without the Irish-speaking community.  It has two formats, one for email delivery and one for WhatsApp, with the latter being necessarily shorter and more concise. In satisfaction surveys completed in late 2022, 88% said they were either satisfied or very satisfied with the emailed newsletter, and 95% said the same about the newsletter that is sent on WhatsApp.

Recommendations

We gathered a lot of very useful recommendations and ideas from the survey respondents and we will make sure to continue what they valued – the wide variety of stories, the information on events and vacancies, the easy-to-read style, the frequency of delivery (daily), and other valued aspects.

We’ll also be looking to implement some of the most common recommendations, such as more stories on sport and art, use of other media sources such as podcasts, features on new different topics such as folklore, topics that help learners and students, more interactivity and more.

Feedback

We’ve included below some representative feedback of what the recipients value in the newsletters:

💬 “Fuaireas an-sásamh as na fístéipeanna ó dhaoine éagsúla timpeall na tíre.”

💬 “Bainim an-taitneamh as go háirithe ailt ar stádas na Gaeilge. Is iar-mhúinteoir mé & cabhraíonn tú go mór liom mo chuid Gaeilge a choimeád suas.”

💬 “Blaiseadh sciobtha don nuacht agus d’imeachtaí”

💬 “Is breá liom a bheith ábalta teacht go furasta ar scríbhneoireacht sa Ghaeilge.”

💬 “Is maith liom go mbíonn réimse leathan téamaí/nuachta le léamh agam chuile mhaidin ar an mbealach chun na hoibre. Tugann sé spreagadh dom bheith ag léamh faoi chúrsaí reatha agus an Ghaeilge a choinneáil beo i mo shaol laethúil ar bhonn ginearálta!”

💬 “Gan í chaillfinn roinnt rudaí tábhachta mar shampla poist le Gaeilge.”

💬 “Míreanna faoin nGaeilge agus saol na Gaeilge nach bhfaighfeá sna meáin go hiondúil”

💬 “Tá a lán ábhar atá mé in ann a úsáid i mo chuid ranganna mar Chúntóir Teanga. Freisin tá na hailt an-suimiúil mar dheiseanna léitheoireachta.”

💬 “I live in the U.S. and I am a beginner learning Irish. The newsletter gives me good information about what is going on in Ireland with lots of good vocabulary to learn. It helps me to feel connected given that I am learning 100% online and have little opportunity to interact with others who speak or are learning Irish.”

If you have any feedback at any time, it’s always welcome at peig@cnag.ie.

And remember, you can sign up for the newsletter, in whichever format you like – email or WhatsApp – here.

Thanks

👏 Thank you to all those who responded to the surveys and gave such useful feedback and ideas.
