Fadhbanna móra ag scoláirí B1 Ardteiste ‘abairtí bunúsacha Gaeilge’ a sholáthar

Tá tuilleadh fianaise curtha ar fáil nach bhfuil aon fheabhas tagtha ar chumas Gaeilge daltaí Ardteiste ardleibhéil ó tosaíodh in 2012 ar 40% de na marcanna a thabhairt don scrúdú cainte.

Tuairiscíodh ar an suíomh seo inné go raibh amhras mór caite ag an NCCA ar an gcur chuige nua sin agus is amhlaidh atá le fáil i mórthuarascáil taighde eile a rinne Lárionad na Gaeilge in Ollscoil Mhá Nuad.

Léirítear sa taighde a rinneadh do COGG nár tháinig aon fheabhas ná aon mheath ar chumas teanga daltaí Ardteiste ó tugadh isteach an cúrsa nua a raibh faoi a chinntiú go mbeadh an Ghaeilge á labhairt i ngach seomra ranga.

Mar chuid den taighde, a rinneadh ina dhá chuid, cuireadh tástálacha caighdeánacha ar mhic léinn a rinne an Ardteist in 2011, 2012 agus 2016. Mic léinn a ghnóthaigh idir 75%-84% i scrúdú Gaeilge na hArdteistiméireachta a bhí i gceist.

Deirtear sa tuarascáil go raibh “fadhbanna móra ag na rannpháirtithe ar fad le bunstruchtúr na teanga” agus gan tuiscint bhunúsach acu ar “chur i bhfeidhm na mbunrialacha gramadaí”.

Sa scrúdú cainte bhí fadhbanna móra ag na mic léinn le húsáid na n-aimsirí agus le húsáid na réamhfhocal agus léirigh an tástáil scríbhneoireachta go raibh deacrachtaí acu “le soláthar abairtí bunúsacha Gaeilge”.

De réir thorthaí na dtástálacha chruthaigh grúpa 2011 beagán níos fearr ná grúpa 2012 agus grúpa 2016 sa chluastuiscint agus sa scríbhneoireacht agus b’fhíorbheag an difríocht a bhí idir na grúpaí sna tástálacha cainte.

Deirtear gur díol suntais é nár tháinig aon fheabhas ar chumas na mac léinn sa chaint agus sa chluastuiscint cé gur athdháileadh na marcanna chun go mbeadh níos mó béime ar labhairt na teanga sa seomra ranga.

Deirtear go bhfuil na spriocanna atá leagtha síos don chúrsa Ardleibhéil Gaeilge san Ardteistiméireacht faoi láthair “an-uaillmhianach” ach nach bhfuil “an dúshlán céanna léirithe sna tascanna measúnaithe”.

De réir an taighde ní raibh aon tionchar ag ciorrú chúrsa litríochta na hArdteiste ar chumas teanga na ndaltaí, maith nó olc.

Cé gurbh léir don lucht taighde go raibh iarrthóirí 2012 agus 2016 níos muiníní ná grúpa 2011 agus iad i mbun an scrúdaithe cainte, tugtar le fios gur muinín as a gcur síos réamhullmhaithe ar an tsraith pictiúr ba chúis lena misneach.

Chomh maith leis sin b’fhacthas go raibh  “claonadh níos mó ag grúpa 2016 cur síos a dhéanamh ar rudaí nár léiríodh sa tsraith pictiúr in aon chor”. Thabharfadh an méid sin le fios, a deirtear, go mbíonn abairtí nó nathanna áirithe réamhfhoghlamtha ag daltaí agus go mbíonn siad meáite ar iad a úsáid “beag beann ar ábhair na bpictiúr”.

Deirtear go raibh stór focal “réasúnta maith” ag na rannpháirtithe cé go raibh siad róthugtha do sheanfhocail agus gur minic gan tuiscint cheart a bheith acu ar na seanfhocail chéanna ná ar conas iad a úsáid i gceart.

Cé gur chun go mbeadh níos mó Gaeilge á labhairt sa rang a rinneadh na hathruithe móra ar an scrúdú seacht mbliana ó shin, tuairiscítear i dtaighde Lárionad na Gaeilge Mhá Nuad gur i méid atá líon na ndaltaí a mhaíonn nach í an Ghaeilge a bhíonn á labhairt ag an múinteoir formhór an ama.

Tá an tuarascáil Leasuithe ar Scrúdú Gaeilge na hArdteistiméireachta: Anailís ar a dTionchar bunaithe ar thástálacha caighdeánacha a cuireadh ar thart ar 100 mac léinn a fuair B1 nó B2 sa Ghaeilge.

Chomh maith leis sin, líon na mic léinn ceistneoir faoina ndearcadh agus a measúnú féin ar fhoghlaim na Gaeilge ar scoil agus a gcumas féin sa teanga.

An tsraith pictiúr a choinneáil sa Scrúdú Cainte ach gan na sraitheanna pictiúr sin a chur ar fáil roimh ré, rud a deirtear a thagann salach ar gach dea-chleachtas maidir le tástáil teangacha

  • Tasc rólghníomhaíochta a bheith mar chuid den Scrúdú Cainte.
  • Fad a chur leis an am a thugtar don scrúdú cainte féin
  • Cur leis na cineálacha ceisteanna atá sa Scrúdú Cluastuisceana chun forbairt a dhéanamh ar scileanna tuisceana na ndaltaí
  • Forbairt ar phlean meantóireachta do mhúinteoirí Gaeilge le tabhairt faoi na fadhbanna gramadaí a bhíonn acu féin
  • Níos mó eolais a bhaint as áiseanna teanga ar líne
  • Dhá thasc scríbhneoireachta a bheith sa scrúdú le stop a chur le hathchúrsáil agus foghlaim aistí de ghlanmheabhair

Moltar chomh maith go dtabharfaí an dara siollabas Gaeilge isteach ag an Ardteist chun freastal ar chainteoirí dúchais agus cainteoirí maithe eile. 

Áitítear gur chóir go mbeadh na caighdeáin a bhfuiltear ag súil leo san Ardteist bunaithe ar chóras caighdeánach amhail an Fráma Tagartha Comónta Eorpach do Theangacha: Teagasc, Foghlaim, Measúnú (Comhairle na hEorpa, 2001), faoi mar atá molta ag an Roinn Oideachais do nua-theangacha eile.
