Bunscoil Naomh MacNissius i gContae Aontroma faoi bhagairt a druidte

| Dáithí Anraí | ,

Tá bunscoil a rinne iarracht iompú ina Gaelscoil, Bunscoil Naomh MacNissius sa Tamhnach Mhór i gContae Aontroma, i mbaol a druidte tar éis gur mhol Comhairle na Scoileanna Caitliceacha faoi Chothabháil (CCMS) amhlaidh d’Údarás Oideachais an tuaiscirt.

Is de thairbhe líon íseal daltaí agus easpa airgid a rinneadh an moladh.

Dúirt úrlabhraí ón Údarás Oideachais:

“With regards to the future of the school, Development Proposal (DP) 583 proposes to discontinue provision at St Macnissius’ Primary School with effect from 31 August 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. This DP was published by the Education Authority (EA), at the request of the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools (CCMS) on 16 April 2019. The DP is currently within the statutory two month objection period that follows publication. The outcome of the proposal will be published on the Department’s website in due course.”

Tagann an cinneadh seo sna sála ar an diúltú oifigiúil a fuair bord Naomh MacNissius maidir lena iarratas an bhunscoil a aistriú ó scoil Bhéarla go scoil Ghaeilge de réir a chéile.

Cheana féin tá comhrang 1, 2, 3 sa scoil, chomh maith le naíscoil lán, ina múintear na páistí trí mhean na Gaeilge.

Feidhmníonn rang 4-7 trí mhéan an Bhéarla amháin.

De réir an Údarais Oideachais, “A key conclusion was that the Case for Change (ó scoil Bhéarla go scoil Ghaeilge) did not provide sufficient evidence that the creation of new Irish Medium provision at the school would be educationally or financially sustainable into the future.”

Bhí cruinniú ag an phobal áitiúil, múinteoirí, an bord gobharnóirí, tuismitheoirí agus comhairleoirí ar na mallaibh agus is léir go bhfuil an pobal go mór i gcoinne an chinnidh.

Anois tá pléan á chruthú acu chun freagra a thabhairt ar an cheist le linn na tréimhse agóide atá ceadaithe.
