D’fhógair an Roinn Sláinte tráthnóna gur bhásaigh 34 duine eile de thoradh na paindéime.

Tuairiscíodh níos luaithe bás 18 duine eile le Covid-19 sa Tuaisceart, ceathrar a bhásaigh le lá anuas agus 14 a bhásaigh roimhe sin.

1,630 duine ar a laghad atá básaithe in Éirinn de thoradh na paindéime domhanda, 1,265 duine ó dheas den teorainn agus 365 duine ó thuaidh di.

D’fhógair an Roinn Sláinte ó dheas tráthnóna go raibh 221 cás nua den choróinvíreas deimhnithe, rud a fhágann go bhfuil 24,456 cás den ghalar atá deimhnithe in Éirinn, 20,833 cás ó dheas agus 3,623 cás ó thuaidh.

Tá an Taoiseach le ráiteas a dhéanamh tráthnóna maidir leis na beartais éigeandála atá tugtha isteach chun dul i ngleic leis an ngalar.

Meastar go bhfógróidh sé go bhfuil síneadh ama á chur leis na srianta ach go leagfaidh sé amach chomh maith plean an Rialtais maidir le na srianta a scaoileadh céim ar chéim i dtréimhsí trí seachtaine.

Déarfaidh sé, áfach, go bhfuil na treoracha maidir le daoine ós cionn 70 bliain d’aois á leasú chun go mbeidh cead acu an baile a fhágáil chun paiste aclaíochta a dhéanamh.

Meastar go bhfógróidh sé leis go bhfuil an cosc imeacht níos faide ná dhá chiliméadar ó bhaile le hathrú chomh maith agus go mbeidh cead ag duine dul cúig chiliméadar ó bhaile ar mhaithe le haclaíocht a dhéanamh.
