‘gach-seans’-go-bhfuil-an-cineal-omicron-den-vireas-in-eirinn-cheana-fein

‘Gach seans’ go bhfuil an cineál Omicron den víreas in Éirinn cheana féin

| Tuairisc.ie | , ,

Deir an tAire Sláinte, Stephen Donnelly, go bhfuil gach seans go bhfuil an cineál nua den víreas, Omicron, in Éirinn.

Dheimhnigh sé go bhfuil roinnt cásanna a bhfuiltear in amhras gur cásanna den Omicron iad á scagadh faoi láthair.

‘Omicron’ atá tugtha ag an Eagraíocht Dhomhanda Sláinte ar an gcineál nua den víreas atá á lua le hardú tapa ar líon na gcásanna san Afraic Theas. Deir an WHO gur ‘cineál é a bhfuil imní faoi’.

“Gach seans go mbeidh cásanna [Omicron] á deimhniú againn anseo sna laethanta amach romhainn,” arsa an tAire Sláinte Stephen Donnelly ar Today with Claire Byrne ar RTÉ.

Dúirt sé go raibh na húdaráis ag díriú go mór ar an gcineál nua atá ina údar imní ar fud an domhain.

Tá eolaithe ar a ndícheall ag iarraidh a dhéanamh amach an scaipeann an cineál is déanaí den choróinvíreas níos éasca ná cineálacha eile agus an ndéanann sé níos mó dochair do dhaoine.

Ceist mhór chomh maith cén éifeacht a bheidh ag na vacsaíní Covid-19 in aghaidh an Omicron. Táthar ag súil fiú mura mbíonn an chosaint chéanna i gceist go laghdóidh na vacsaíní i gcónaí an baol go mbuailfeadh drochthinnis an duine a tholgann an cineál nua nó an baol go bhfaigheadh duine bás.

Tá an cineál nua den víreas á scagadh chomh maith ag lucht déanta na vacsaíní féachaint an mbeidh gá acu leasú a dhéanamh ar a snáthaidí chun dul i ngleic leis Omicron.

Tá ceannairí pháirtithe an chomhrialtais ag bualadh leis an bPríomhoifigeach Leighis, an Dr Tony Holohan, inniu chun cás an víris a phlé. Cuirfear pé moltaí a dhéanfar ag an gcruinniú sin faoi bhráid an Rialtais amárach.

Thug an tAire Donnelly le fios chomh maith nach mbeidh aon ghá a thuilleadh le fordheontas do thástálacha antaigine. Dúirt sé go raibh praghas na dtástálacha tite sa mhargadh cheana féin.
