Dá mhéid teagmhála a bhíonn ag páistí bunscoile leis an nGaeilge is ea is mó a thaitníonn sí leo, a deirtear i dtaighde nua.

B’fhiú é sin a scagadh a thuilleadh, a deir údair na tuarascála faoi na tuairimí a bailíodh ó dhaltaí scoile mar chuid den taighde faoi churaclam na bunscoile.

Deirtear chomh maith gur mó an tábhacht a bhaineann le labhairt teanga eile do pháistí i scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge ná do pháistí i scoileanna Béarla.

De réir an tsuirbhé ba thúisce a déarfadh dalta Gaelscoile go raibh sé “tábhachtach” a bheith ábalta teanga eile a labhairt. Ba thúisce a déarfadh dalta i scoil Bhéarla go raibh a leithéid ar bheagán tábhachta nó gan aon tábhacht.

Na hábhair is lú a thaitníonn le daltaí de réir na tuarascála ná ábhair a mheas siad a bheith deacair.

Deir údair an taighde go mb’fhéidir gur cruthúnas an méid sin go dtuigeann daltaí an tábhacht a bhaineann le foghlaim na Gaeilge cé nach maith leo í.

I gcás na scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge bhí an Ghaeilge sa tríú háit ar liosta na n-ábhar is mó tábhachta ag na daltaí, taobh thiar den mhatamaitic agus den spórt.

Nuair a ceistíodh daltaí sa chéad bhliain san iar-bhunscoil faoi na hábhair is tábhachtaí sa bhunscoil bhí an Ghaeilge sa cheathrú háit, taobh thiar den mhatamaitic, den Bhéarla agus den spórt.

Deir údair an taighde go bhfuil sé suntasach nár léirigh daltaí iar-bhunscoile oiread dímheasa ar an nGaeilge is a léirigh daltaí i mbunscoileanna Béarla.

Tá foláireamh ag lucht an taighde nár cheart féachaint ar na torthaí mar fhianaise go bhfuil meon daltaí i leith na Gaeilge “do-athraithe”, go háirithe mar gur cruthaíodh cheana go mbíonn tionchar dearfach ar mheon na ndaltaí ag beartais a thugann deis dóibh a bheith ag plé níos mó leis an teanga.

I measc na mbeartas a chothódh dearcadh níos dearfaí i leith na Gaeilge, luaitear an fhoghlaim chomhtháite agus eiseamláirí a bheith ag páistí óga ó thaobh labhairt na Gaeilge.

Deirtear go mbíonn dearcadh na bpáistí i leith na Gaeilge ag brath ar chaighdeán na dtéacsleabhar a bhíonn acu agus ar an gcaidreamh a bhíonn acu leis an múinteoir Gaeilge.

Ba chóir taighde breise a dhéanamh faoin taithí a bhíonn ag páistí an lae inniu ar fhoghlaim na Gaeilge, a deirtear. B’fhiú chomh maith, a deir na húdair, féachaint ar an tionchar a d’fhéadfadh a bheith ag scéimeanna amhail An Ghaelbhratach agus An Bosca Leabharlainne ar chás na teanga i scoileanna Béarla.

Foilsíodh taighde nua an CNCM ina dhá chuid – an Tuarascáil ar an gComhairliúchán ar  Dhréachtchreat Curaclaim na Bunscoile agus tuarascáil ar leith faoi na tuairimí a bailíodh ó dhaltaí scoile mar chuid den taighde.
