Iarratas pleanála nua do Pháirc na Mara le déanamh ag Údarás na Gaeltachta

Deir Príomhfheidhmeannach Údarás na Gaeltachta, Tomás Ó Síocháin gurb é ‘an rud is fearr agus is ciallmhaire le déanamh’ ná iarratas nua a dhéanamh ar chead pleanála do Pháirc na Mara

Iarratas pleanála nua do Pháirc na Mara le déanamh ag Údarás na Gaeltachta

Tá sé fógartha ag Údarás na Gaeltachta tráthnóna go bhfuil iarratas pleanála nua á ullmhú acu do Pháirc na Mara i gCill Chiaráin i nGaeltacht Chonamara.

I mí an Mhárta, sheas an Bord Pleanála le cinneadh Chomhairle Chontae na Gaillimhe gan cead pleanála a thabhairt do Pháirc na Mara –togra tionscail agus taighde a bheadh bunaithe ar acmhainní mara agus cladaigh.

Deir an tÚdarás go mbeidh “deireadh 2024 ann” sula mbeidh an t-iarratas nua réidh le cur faoi bhráid Chomhairle Chontae na Gaillimhe.

Mhaígh siad go dtógfadh sé an méid céanna ama athbhreithniú breithiúnach a dhéanamh faoi chinneadh an Bhoird Pleanála, an rogha eile a bhí ag Údarás na Gaeltachta nuair a chinn siad gan an plean a chaitheamh i dtraipisí.

Tá Páirc na Mara ar cheann de na tograí is mó a bheartaigh Údarás na Gaeltachta agus os cionn €1 milliún a caitheadh ar an iarratas pleanála ar diúltaíodh dó.

In 2018 a rinne Údarás na Gaeltachta iarratas ar chead pleanála do Pháirc na Mara den chéad uair.

Deir Príomhfheidhmeannach Údarás na Gaeltachta, Tomás Ó Síocháin go bhfuil cinneadh déanta ag an eagraíocht iarratas nua a dhéanamh ar chead pleanála do Pháirc na Mara mar gurb é “an rud is fearr agus is ciallmhaire le déanamh”.

“Tá grinnscrúdú déanta ag Údarás na Gaeltachta ar an gceist seo le roinnt seachtainí. I bhfianaise chinneadh an Bhoird Pleanála, chuaigh muid i gcomhairle le saineolaithe pleanála agus dlí agus creidimid go láidir gurb é an rud is fearr agus is ciallmhaire le déanamh ag an tráth seo, tús a chur le próiseas i dtreo iarratais eile pleanála a dhéanamh chuig an Údarás Áitiúil.”

Deir Ó Síocháin go bhfuil an tÚdarás “iomlán tiomanta” do thogra Pháirc na Mara.

“Is tionscadal thar a bheith tábhachtach é seo do cheantar Iorras Aithneach agus tá sé tábhachtach go dtabharfar chun críche é, ar mhaithe le deiseanna náisiúnta fostaíochta, oiliúna agus taighde a chruthú agus borradh a chur faoi gheilleagar an cheantair.”

“É sin ráite, caithfidh muid a bheith cinnte go bhfuil ár gcur chuige i dtaobh pleanála ag teacht leis na riachtanais nua aeráide agus riachtanais eile, más ann dóibh. Beidh muid ag féachaint go cúramach ar chinneadh an Bhoird Pleanála, lena chinntiú go bhfuilimid ag freastal ar na riachtanais sin. Tá muid muiníneach go mbeidh ar ár gcumas sin a dhéanamh.”

I measc na gcúiseanna gur dhiúltaigh Comhairle Chontae na Gaillimhe cead pleanála don Údarás, dúradh go raibh an baol ann go ndéanfaí dochar do cheantar caomhnaithe dá leanfaí ar aghaidh leis an bhforbairt.

Dúirt Rannóg Pleanála na Comhairle, mar shampla, nach bhféadfadh siad a bheith cinnte nach ndéanfadh píopa a bhí le tógáil dochar do Cheantar Speisialta Caomhnaithe Chuan Chill Chiaráin. Tá an stádas comhshaoil is airde – sin Ceantar Speisialta Caomhnaithe Aguisín 1 – i gceist leis an gcuan sin.

Bhí Údarás na Gaeltachta den tuairim go raibh Páirc na Mara ag teacht le pleananna forbartha náisiúnta agus go gcuideodh an fhorbairt le Straitéis 20 Bliain na Gaeilge sa mhéid agus go dtabharfadh sé deis do mhuintir Ghaeltacht iarthar Chonamara post a fháil sa mbaile.
