Reachtaíocht Ghaeilge don tuaisceart: bliain níos déanaí

| Dáithí Anraí |

I ndiaidh breis agus scór bliain de throid, d’fheachtasaíocht agus d’agóidíocht ar son Acht Gaeilge, cuireadh reachtaíocht trí Westminster i mí na Nollag anuraidh. Ritheadh an bille sin roinnt míonna i ndiaidh an lae stairiúil i mBéal Feirste i mí na Bealtaine 2022 nuair a ghlac os cionn 14,000 cainteoir agus tacadóir Gaeilge páirt i léirsiú mór ar son an Achta.

In ainneoin an dóchais sin áfach, níl aon rud curtha i gcrích ag na húdaráis ó shin. Briseadh go leor geallúintí i leith na reachtaíochta atá á cur siar go leanúnach agus is í fírinne an scéil anois go bhfuil níos mó feachtasaíochta de dhíth ar son comhchearta teanga sa Tuaisceart, ó cheist na gcomharthaí bóthair go cúrsaí oideachais agus gnéithe go leor eile nach iad.

Bhuail Meon Eile le Pádraig Ó Tiarnaigh ó Chonradh na Gaeilge, atá ina bhall lárnach den Dream Dearg chomh maith, chun an bhliain a phlé. Dúirt sé go mbeidh an agóidíocht ar siúl arís in 2024 agus nach stopfaidh an obair go dtí go gcloífear leis na geallúintí a tugadh.
