Féile Mhic Artúir in Ollscoil na Banríona

| Dáithí Anraí |

Bhí imeachtaí iontacha ar siúl fud fad Bhéal Feirste an tseachtain seo caite agus Féile Mhic Artúir faoi lán seóil ag an Chumann Gaelach de chuid Ollscoil na Banríona.

Liam Mac Artúir ab ainm don fhear a bhunaigh an chéad Chumann Gaelach san ollscoil in 1906.

Ag seoladh oifigiúil na féile, labhair Lynette Fay faoi chumhacht na mac léinn ó thaobh cúrsaí teanga agus cultúir de agus is léir go bhfuil obair mhaith ar bun ag Cumann Gaelach na hOllscoile maidir leis seo a chur chun cinn ar champas.

I measc imeachtaí na féile, bhí ranganna Gaeilge agus ceoil, oíche airneáil, tráth na gceist agus caint ar an mhargadh New Decade New Approach i gcompháirtíocht leis an Choiste um Riarachán Dlí agus Cirt. Ní hamháin sin ach bhí ceol agus damhsa Gaelach acu ar champas le linn na féile chun beocht an chultúir a thaispeáint do mhic léinn agus d’fhoireann na hollscoile araon.

Agus muid 50 bliain ar aghaidh ó bunaíodh Gaeltacht Bhóthar Seoighe i mBéal Feirste, shocraigh na mic léinn go mbeadh caint le Seán Mac Seáin faoin obair a rinne siad an tráth sin. Níl aon dabht ach go ndeachaigh paisean cheannródaithe Bhóthar Seoighe i bhfeidhm ar mhic léinn an lae inniu.

Ba í seo an chéad fhéile Ghaelach san ollscoil agus tá moladh mór tuillte ag Cumann Gaelach na hollscoile as ucht a gcuid oibre leis an teanga agus cultúr na tíre a chur chun cinn. Tá Meon Eile ag súil leis an bhliain seo chugainn cheana féin!
