Tá 28 duine eile básaithe ó dheas de bharr na paindéime Covid-19, de réir na bhfigiúirí is déanaí ón Roinn Sláinte.

500 cás nua den choróinvíreas a dheimhnigh an Roinn Sláinte tráthnóna inné, i gcomparáid le 365 cás Dé Céadaoin.

Dúirt Príomh-Oifigeach Leighis na Roinne Sláinte an Dr Tony Holohan tráthnóna gur ardú ar líon na dtástálacha atá á ndéanamh ba mhó ba chúis leis an ardú.

Fógrófar tráthnóna síneadh ama leis na srianta a tugadh isteach chun dul i ngleic leis an gcoróinvíreas agus tabharfar léargas chomh maith do mhuintir na hÉireann faoi céard a d’fhéadfadh tarlú má bhíonn rath ar an gcéad tréimhse dianghlasála eile.

Dúirt an tAire Sláinte Simon Harris gur dóigh go bhfógrófar inniu síneadh ama “roinnt seachtainí eile” leis na srianta a tugadh isteach chun dul i ngleic leis an gcoróinvíreas.

Meastar go bhféadfadh na srianta a tugadh isteach chun scaipeadh an ghalair mharfaigh a choinneáil faoi chois a bheith i bhfeidhm go dtí tús mhí na Bealtaine.

Dúirt an tAire agus agus Príomh-Oifigeach Leighis na Roinne Sláinte, an Dr Tony Holohan, go gcuirfí eolas nua ar fáil inniu chomh maith faoi cén plean atá ann maidir le deireadh a chur de réir a chéile leis na srianta sa chás go mbíonn rath orthu.
