Fíneálacha do shárú na srianta Leibhéal 3 á scrúdú ag an Rialtas

| Tuairisc.ie |

Dheimhnigh an Taoiseach Micheál Martin go bhfuil an Rialtas ag scrúdú cheist na bhfíneálacha chun srianta an Covid-19 a chur i bhfeidhm

Dúirt an Taoiseach sa Dáil go raibh cruinniú ag Coiste Maoirseachta an Stáit ar maidin chun plé a dhéanamh ar bhealaí le srianta Leibhéal 3 a chur i bhfeidhm.

Dúirt an Tánaiste Leo Varadkar aréir ag cruinniú de chuid pháirtí parlaiminte Fhine Gael go bhféadfadh go gcaithfí córas fíneálacha a chur san áireamh má bhíonn daoine ag sárú na srianta. Dúirt Leo Varadkar gurb é ab fhearr leis an Rialtas daoine a mhealladh le cloí leis na srianta seachas pionóis throma a thabhairt isteach.

Dúirt sé dá gcaithfí fíneálacha a thabhairt isteach go mbeidís grádaithe agus gur ar an spota a chuirfí i bhfeidhm iad seachas dul trí na cúirteanna. Cheap an Tánaiste gur fíneáil chuí €50 a ghearradh ar dhuine nach gcaithfeadh masc nuair ba cheart agus mholfadh sé €200 don té a sháródh srianta taistil.

Dúirt an Tánaiste nár theastaigh uaidh féin ná ó na Gardaí go dtabharfaí cumhachtaí breise do na Gardaí le dul isteach i dtithe a mbeadh amhras orthu go raibh srianta Covid-19 á sárú iontu.

Dúirt urlabhraí Rialtais ar maidin go bhféadfaí fíneáil €2,500 a chur ar dhuine a sháródh srianta áirithe Covid-19 faoin reachtaíocht mar atá. D’fhédfaí fíneáil mar sin a ghearradh ar dhuine, mar shampla, as tionól a eagrú nó gan masc a chaitheamh ar an gcóras iompar poiblí.

Faoin bhfeachtas Fanacht d’eagraigh na Gardaí 132 pointe seiceála tráchta inniu agus na srianta taistil á míniú acu do thiománaithe, rud a d’fhág scuainí tráchta ar roinnt bóithre.
