Stiúrthóir Oireachtas na Gaeilge le dul ar scor

Beidh Stiúrthóir Oireachtas na Gaeilge, Liam Ó Maolaodha, ag dul ar scor an samhradh seo. D’fhógair an tOireachtas tráthnóna gur chuir an stiúrthóir in iúl d’fhoireann na féile go mbeidh sé ag éirí as an bpost tar éis 25 bliain i mbliana.

Bhí baint mhór ag Liam Ó Maolaodha in Oireachtas na Gaeilge, féile a bunaíodh in 1897, i bhfad sular ceapadh ina stiúrthóir ar an bhféile é i mí Feabhra na bliana 1996. B sé ina bhall den Choiste Náisiúnta ó 1979 agus ina chathaoirleach ar an gcoiste ó 1990 go 1992. Reáchtáladh an tOireachtas ina cheantar dúchais, Cluain Dolcáin i mBaile Átha Cliath, agus é ina chathaoirleach ar an gcoiste.

Dúradh i ráiteas a d’eisigh an tOireachtas inniu gur tháinig “bláthú as cuimse” ar fhéile an Oireachtais agus “borradh faoi thionscnaimh liteartha, ealaíne agus dioscúrsa na heagraíochta” agus Liam Ó Maolaodha ina stiúrthóir uirthi.

“Threoraigh sé an eagraíocht tríd an tréimhse chorrach a rabh atheagar á dhéanamh ar na heagraíochtaí Gaeilge go dtí gur ceapadh an tOireachas ina Cheanneagraíocht sa mhór-réimse ‘Deiseanna a thacaíonn le húsáid na Gaeilge agus bunú gréasán [in 2014],” a dúradh sa ráiteas.

Is í Máirín de Brún atá ina Cathaoirleach ar Bhord Stiúrtha an Oireachtais anois agus dúirt sí gur threoraigh Liam an eagraíocht “go stuama, misniúil, coinsiasach, le spiorad agus le paisean” le 25 bliain anuas.
