buiochas-gafa-leis-‘na-daoine-iontacha’-a-thug-bean-slan-o-chnoc-breanainn

Buíochas gafa leis ‘na daoine iontacha’ a thug bean slán ó Chnoc Bréanainn

Tá buíochas gafa leis na “daoine iontacha nach ní leo a leas féin” a thug bean slán ó Chnoc Bréanainn maidin inniu in eachtra dhúshlánach tarrthála.

Os cionn ocht n-uair an chloig a mhair an tarrtháil maidin inniu i nGaeltacht Chorca Dhuibhne.

Cuireadh fios ar na seirbhísí tarrthála thart ar a deich a chlog oíche aréir agus an scéal tagtha chucu go raibh bean imithe amú ar Chnoc Bréanainn.

Bhí an bhean i sáinn os cionn Loch Croite ar an gcnoc, agus cé gur aimsíodh í timpeall ar a haon a chlog ar maidin, thóg sé uaireanta fada an chloig ar na seirbhísí tarrthála sléibhe í a thógáil as an áit ina raibh sí. Bhí an bhean ar an gcnoc ina haonar agus chuaigh sí amú agus i ngreim.

Bhí Micheál Ó Brosnacháin ó Bhaile na nGall, atá ar fhoireann an Gharda Cósta i gCorca Dhuibhne sa Daingean, ar dhuine den chriú a d’aimsigh an bhean i lár na hoíche aréir agus a thug slán den chnoc í.

Ag labhairt dó ar An Saol ó Dheas inniu faoin eachtra tarrthála, dúirt sé gur cuireadh glaoch orthu timpeall a deich a chlog aréir go raibh bean teanntaithe ar Chnoc Bréanainn.

“Bhailíomar thíos i stáisiún an Gharda Cósta,” a dúirt Ó Brosnacháin. “Thóg sé cúpla uair an chloig, timpeall deich tar éis a haon ar maidin a fuaireamar í. Ní raibh an héileacaptar ábalta imeacht isteach mar gheall ar na sléibhte thart timpeall uirthi, ach thóg sé ón am sin go dtí fiche nóimintí tar éis a sé ar maidin chun í a thabhairt amach as an áit a bhí sí.”

Dúirt Ó Brosnacháin go bhfuil cúpla loch ar an dtaobh eile den chnoc, agus go raibh sí “taobh thuas de san” [Loch Croite].

Áit ana-dhainséarach ar fad, ana-ana-dhainséarach,” ar sé. “Bhí sí teanntaithe thuas ann, agus bhí sí an-fhuar ar fad. Bhí sé dorcha, agus is dócha, sé sin an rud is measa nuair a bhíonn tú i d’aonar agus bíonn sé dorcha agus ní chíonn tú faic agus níl tú ábalta faic a dhéanamh duit féinig. Bhí sí ana-fhuar ar fad nuair a fuaireamar í. Thóg sé an ceithre uair an chloig chun í a thabhairt amach as an áit a bhí sí.”

Deir Ó Brosnacháin go raibh sé ‘an-deacair’ í a thabhairt amach as an áit ina raibh sí i sáinn.

“Ní raibh sí greamaithe ach bhí clocha móra groí timpeall uirthi,” ar sé.

“Bhí cúig cinn déag dínn féinig ann, agus ansin tháinig deichniúr is dóigh liom ó Kerry Mountain Rescue. Bhí an chabhair ag teastáil. Bhí sé ag teastáil ag an am sin, mar bhí sé chomh deacair, chomh deacair chun í a fháil amach.”

Bhí a fhios ag na seirbhísí éigeandála timpeall an áit ina raibh sí, a deir Ó Brosnacháin.

“Ach an áit a bhí sí, bhí sé chomh deacair dul isteach ann, agus chomh dainséarach. Nuair a bhíonn sé dorcha, bíonn sé níos measa,” ar sé. “Ní bhíonn eagla orainn ach bíonn muid cúramach, agus chaithfeá a bheith cúramach, mar má dhéanann tú aon rud mícheart, tú féinig a bheas níos measa ná an duine eile. Táimid ana-shásta anseo inniu. Jab maith déanta againn.”

Tógadh an bhean go hospidéal Thrá Lí áit a bhfuil sí ag teacht chuici féin anois.

‘Awesome people’ agus ‘national treasure’ a tugadh ar na seirbhísí éigeandála ar Twitter inniu nuair a chuala daoine an dea-scéala go raibh an bhean slán sábháilte.

Airlifted to hospital at 6 am. In recovery and will be fine. I am in awe of the #kerrymountainrescue volunteers who climbed, searched, found and carried her down. 10 hrs work basically. They will go about their day as normal. Selfless incredible people.
