Ceolchoirm speisialta mar chuid d’Fhéile William Kennedy ar na mallaibh

| Dáithí Anraí |

Bhailigh na sluaite le chéile ar an chéad oíche den 29ú bliain d’Fhéile Phíobaireachta William Kennedy i gcathair Ard Mhacha ar na mallaibh.

Tá an fhéile idirnáisiúnta seo á heagrú ag foireann Phíobairí Ard Mhacha ó bhí 1994 ann agus meallann an deireadh seachtaine clúiteach daoine as gach cearn den domhan chuig Ard Mhacha bliain i ndiaidh bliana.

D’fhreastail Meon Eile ar an chéad cheolchoirm den fhéile, an ‘Welcome Concert’, in Áras na bPíobairí i lár na cathrach agus an áit dubh le daoine. Is é Eugene McKenna, ceoltóir traidisiúnta as Contae Thír Eoghain, a bhí mar fhear an tí ar an oíche.

Chuala muid ó réimse leathan píobairí as áiteanna éagsúla, agus píobaí de chineálacha difriúla acu go léir chomh maith. Bhí an t-ádh orainn Olle Gällmo as an tSualainn a bheith linn, agus é ag ceol in éineacht le Matthias Branschke as an Ghearmáin. Sheinn Andy May as Northumberland Shasana dúinn ar an oíche chomh maith le José Manuel Tejedor as Asturias na Spáinne. Cuireadh críoch leis an oíche shiamsiúil le beirt mhúinteoirí de chuid Phíobairí Ard Mhacha, Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn as Contae Mhuineacháin agus Brendan Murphy as Doire Núis.

Bhí an deis ag Meon Eile labhairt le hEithne Vallely ar an oíche, stiúrthóir ceoil Phíobairí Ard Mhacha, agus le Tiarnán sula ndeachaigh sé ar an stáitse.
