Cill Dara le Gaeilge: SRAITH DE CHEARDLANNA PLEANÁLA TEANGA DO CHONTAE CHILL DARA

    @ The Town House Hotel

    Lecture / Talk

Tá tús curtha ag Cill Dara le Gaeilge (CDleG) le plean teanga seacht mbliana a chur le chéile le haghaidh chontae Chill Dara. Cuireadh an chéad phlean teanga don chontae le chéile don tréimhse 2019-2023 agus ba é an chéad phlean teanga contae a scríobhadh riamh sa tír. Anois agus gá le plean nua, is mian le CDleG ionchur ó gach ceantar bardasach a chur san áireamh sa phlean le go mbeidh ionadaíocht ann ó gach cearn den chontae. Is beag grúpa Gaeilge a bhí sa chontae nuair a scríobhadh an chéad phlean teanga, agus ba é an grúpa Sult na Sollán an t-aon coiste Gaeilge amháin a bhí páirteach sa phróiseas sin. Is iontach an rud é an dul chun cinn atá tarlaithe ó shin a fheiceáil agus na grúpaí Gaeilge; Gaeilge Nuada, Gaeilge an Bhradáin, Glór an Churraigh agus grúpa nua in Áth Í ar an bhfód anois.

Cill Dara le Gaeilge (CDleG) has begun to put together a seven-year language plan for County Kildare. The first language plan for the county was published for the period 2019-2023 and it was the first county language plan ever written in the country. Now that a new plan is needed, CDleG wants to include input from all municipal areas in the plan so that there is representation from all parts of the county. There were very few Irish language groups in the county when the first language plan was written, and the Sult na Sollán group was the only Irish language committee involved in that process. It is wonderful to see the progress that has taken place since then and the Irish groups; Gaeilge Nuada, Gaeilge an Bhradáin, Glór an Curraigh and a new group in Áth Í now on the scene.

Dúirt Siobhain Grogan ó CDleG, ‘I mí Feabhra 2019, seoladh an chéad phlean teanga chontae riamh in Éirinn. Táimid an-bhródúil as sin. Bhí na spriocanna sa phlean uaillmhianach ach indéanta. Tá an dul chun cinn déanta sa chontae ó shin. Chomh maith leis na grúpaí nuabhunaithe timpeall an chontae, tá beirt fhostaithe lánaimseartha ag obair don chomhlacht neamhbhrabúis, Cill Dara le Gaeilge. Tugann an próiséas phleanáil teanga seo deis do chuile dhuine a nguth a úsáid chun na
deiseanna don Ghaeilge ina gceantar ó 2024 agus 2030 a phlé agus a fhorbairt. Bíonn smaointí iontacha ag daoine agus uaireanta ní chloiseann éinne eile iad. Tapaigh an deis seo agus tar chuig an seisiún oscailte i do cheantar.’

Siobhain Grogan from CDleG said, 'In February 2019, the first ever county language plan in Ireland was launched. We are very proud of that. The goals in the plan were ambitious but achievable. Much progress has been made in the county since then. In addition to the newly established groups around the county, there are now two full-time employees working for the non-profit organisation, Cill Dara le Gaeilge. This language planning process gives everyone the opportunity to use their voice to discuss and develop the opportunities for Irish in their area from 2024 and 2030. People have great ideas and sometimes no one else hears them. Take this opportunity and come to the open session in your area.'

Ceardlanna idirgnhíomhacha a bheidh i gceist, ina bpléifear fís agus féideartachtaí na Gaeilge don cheantar. Mairfidh gach seisiún 1.45 uair. Beidh na seisiúin ar siúl sna ceantair seo a leanas agus beidh tuilleadh sonraí ar fáil ó na grúpaí áitiúla níos gaire don am. Beidh na sonraí ar fáil ar www.cilldaralegaeilge.ie freisin.

Cill Dara le Gaeilge has organised a series of workshops with the local Irish groups in the county to discuss the process of language planning and share its own experience of the process. To that end, a series of language planning workshops will be organised in the various municipal areas during the month of May. Any member of the public is welcome to attend these workshops. Interactive workshops will be involved, in which the vision and possibilities of the Irish language for the area will be discussed. Each session will last 1.45 hours. The sessions will take place in the following areas and more details will be available from the local groups closer to the time. The details will also be available on www.cilldaralegaeilge.ie
