Fear loiscthe ina bheatha dá dheoin féin le linn agóid teanga

Tá fear 79 bliain d’aois tar éis bháis i ndiaidh dó é féin a loisceadh ina bheatha mar chuid d’agóid in aghaidh pholasaithe teanga na Rúise.

Bhí Albert Razin, cainteoir Udmairtise agus gníomhaí teanga, i measc grúpa saineolaithe áitiúla as ceantar na hUdmairte a chuir a n-ainm le litir chuig an rialtas áitiúil ag impí ar lucht reachta gan glacadh le bille nua oideachais a bhain le teangacha dúchais na Rúise.

Tuairiscítear go raibh dhá chomhartha ar iompar ag Albert Razin nuair a chuir sé a chuid éadaí féin trí thine — “Má fhaigheann mo theanga bás amárach, tá mise réidh le bás a fháil inniu” agus “An bhfuil tír athartha agam?” an dá theachtaireacht a bhí orthu.

Ritheadh an bille conspóideach oideachais i bparlaimint na Rúise an bhliain seo caite, agus cuireadh deireadh le múineadh na dteangacha dúchais i gceantair áirithe sa Rúis.

Cuireadh an agóid suas sa gcathair Иж (Izhevsk) agus ba in ospidéal na cathrach sin a deimhníodh go raibh Razin tar éis bháis, agus beagnach 100% dá cholainn loiscthe.

Tá laghdú suntasach tagtha ar líon na ndaoine a bhfuil an Udmairtis acu le tamall de bhlianta anuas. De réir an daonáirimh dheireanaigh in 2010, bhí 324,000 cainteoir ann — breis agus 100,000 níos lú na mar a bhí in 2002 (463,000).
