Gan ach ceathrar Teachtaí Dála Gaeltachta tofa chun na Dála

| Tuairisc.ie | ,

Ní bheidh ach ceathrar Teachtaí Dála Gaeltachta sa 33ú Dáil, beirt níos lú ná mar a bhí i dTeach Laighean tar éis Olltoghchán 2016.

D’éirigh le beirt iarrthóirí Gaeltachta de chuid Fhianna Fáil, Aindrias Ó Muineacháin as Múscraí agus Éamon Ó Cuív as Conamara, a suíocháin a choinneáil agus toghadh Pearse Doherty (Sinn Féin), a bhfuil cónaí air i nGaoth Dobhair, agus Joe McHugh (Fine Gael) as Carraig Airt in athuair i nDún na nGall.

Níor éirigh le hiarAire Stáit na Gaeltachta Seán Kyne (Fine Gael), as Maigh Cuilinn, a shuíochán a choinneáil i nGaillimh Thiar ná le Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher, polaiteoir seanbhunaithe as na Rosa, i nDún na nGall.

Bhí Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher ina Theachta Dála idir 1981-1997, idir 2002-2009 agus ó 2016 i leith. Bhí sé ina fheisire i bParlaimint na hEorpa idir 1994-2002 agus idir 2009-2014. Thug sé dhá thréimhse ina aire stáit Gaeltachta i ndeireadh na n-ochtóidí agus i dtús na nóchaidí.

Buille trom é an toradh seo do Sheán Kyne a chaith beagán le cois dhá bhliain go leith ina Aire Stáit Gaeltachta.

Níorbh as an nGaeltacht d’aon iarrthóir eile a bhí ag seasamh in Olltoghchán 2020.
