Bunscoil Phobal Feirste – 50 bliain ar an fhód

Bunscoil Phobal Feirste – 50 bliain ar an fhód

| Dáithí Anraí |

Sa tsraith úr seo beidh Meon Eile ag amharc ar eagraíochtaí Gaeilge ar leith a bhfuil sprioc thábhachtach bainte amach acu i mbliana.

Sa chéad chlár thug Meon Eile cuairt ar Bhunscoil Phobal Feirste ar Bhóthar Seoighe i mBéal Feirste atá ag ceiliúradh 50 bliain ar an fhod i mbliana.

Tá Bunscoil Phobal Feirste ar an chéad scoil Ghaeilge a bunaíodh sna 6 chontae. Thosaigh sé le bothán amháin, beirt muinteoirí agus roinnt daltaí sa togra nua Gaeltachta sa cheantar ‘Pobal Feirste’. Spreag an scoil gluaiseacht mhór i dtuaisceart na tíre, agus fás agus forbairt ar an Ghaeloideachas dá réir. Anois tá 91 scoil ó thuiaidh – idir naíscoileanna, bhunscoileanna agus meánscoileanna – a chuireann oideachais trí Ghaeilge ar fáil: oidhreacht shaibhir a thosaigh 50 bliain ó shin le dream beag díograiseach i mBéal Feirste.

Thug Meon Eile cuairt ar an Bhunscoil agus labhair muid leis an phríomhoide Séamus Ó Tuama. Labhair sé faoin am a chaith sé ar an scoil agus é ina dalta agus ar an fhás atá feicthe aige féin le linn na mblianta. Labhair muid chomh maith le Diarmuid Ó Tuama, iar-phríomhoide na scoile, faoin ghluaiseacht a d’eascair aisti ó 1971 i leith.
