Naoise Mac Cathmhaoil

Naoise Mac Cathmhaoil: Taighdeoir úrnua ag Tionscadal Logainmneacha Uladh

| Dáithí Anraí |

Tá taighdeoir úrnua ag obair do Thionscadal Logainmneacha Uladh, tionscadal de chuid Ollscoil na Banríona, mar atá Naoise Mac Cathmhaoil as Tír Chonaill.

Thosaigh Naoise ag tús na míosa agus ó shin tá sé gnóthach i mbun cuid mhór léitheoireachta agus aistriúcháin. Tá sé ag díriú ar na sráidainmneacha thart ar cheantar Bhéal Feirste faoi láthair, ag obair go dlúth lena bhainisteoir, an tOllamh Mícheál Ó Mainnín, le teacht ar na haistriúcháin is cruinne agus is éifeachtaí ó Bhéarla go Gaeilge.

Tá cleachtadh maith ag Naoise ar Bhéal Feirste ón am a chaith sé ann i mbun céim sa Ghaeilge in Ollscoil na Banríona. Chomh maith le cúrsa fóchéime a bhaint amach, bhain sé céim mháistreachta san aistriúchán agus ateangaireacht amach ó Ollscoil Uladh. Tá sé níos speisialta arís do Naoise a bheith ar ais toisc go bhfuil a sheánléachtóirí aige mar chomhghleacaithe anois. Is iad sin Mícheál agus an Dr Frances Kane.

Ó 1987 ar aghaidh tá an Tionscadal lonnaithe in Ollscoil na Banríona, Béal Feirste, agus tá sé mar phríomhaidhm aige taighde a dhéanamh ar an stair agus ar an dúchas taobh thiar de na logainmneacha.

Tá dóchas ann don todhchaí agus duine óg ar nós Naoise ag dul i mbun na ceirde agus ag caomhnú na logainmneacha do na glúnta atá le teacht. Thug Meon Eile cuairt ar Naoise an tseachtain seo caite agus é i mbun oibre.

Is féidir cuairt a thabhairt ar shuíomh Northern Ireland Place-Name Project anseo nó iad a leanstan ar Twitter anseo.
