Achainí ar Netflix ábhar Gaeilge a chruthú

achainí tosaithe ar líne ina n-éilítear ar an gcomhlacht mór sruthaithe Netflix ábhar i nGaeilge a chur ar fáil ar a ardán sa tír seo.

Faoi láthair, níl aon chlár ná scannán i nGaeilge ar fáil ar Netflix, cé go bhfuil leagan Béarla den tsraith iomráiteach An Klondike, faoin teideal Dominion Creek. Nuair a thairg stiúrthóir na sraithe, Dathaí Keane, an rogha idir fotheidealú agus dubáil do Netflix, ghlac an comhlacht leis an leagan dubáilte.

Ina achainí ar an suíomh Change.org, deir Cormac Mac Réamainn, mac léinn i mBaile Átha Cliath, go bhfuil ábhar cruthaithe ag Netflix atá lonnaithe i  mbeagnach gach tír ina bhfuil an tseirbhís ar fáil, ach nach bhfuil aon ábhar Éireannach, gan chaint ar ábhar Gaeilge, cruthaithe acu go fóill.

“Ar na samplaí [den ábhar] tá Sex Education i Sasana, Dark sa Ghearmáin, La casa de las Floras i Meicsiceo, agus cláir aitheanta eile dá lucht féachana i Meiriceá,” a scríobh sé.

Dúirt sé gur mhaith leis “ábhar Éireannach, agus a fhormhór i dteanga oifigiúil na tíre, an Ghaeilge”  ar Netflix amach anseo.

“Tá 6.5 milliún duine ina gcónaí in Éirinn, agus tá 36.9 milliún Gael-Mheiriceánach ann freisin. Is cinnte go mbeadh tóir ar ábhar Gaeilge [ar Netflix]. Agus Brexit ag druidim linn, luífeadh sé le réasún dá scarfaí Netflix Ireland ó Netflix UK agus dá ndéanfaí aonad ar leith as. Dhíreodh sé sin tuilleadh airde ar ábhar Gaeilge, in áit ábhar Béarla, a chur ar fáil,” a scríobh Cormac.

Faoi láthair tá breis agus 750 duine tar éis a n-ainm a chur leis an achainí, agus súil ag Cormac ar a laghad míle duine a fháil.

Seoladh Netflix in Éirinn in 2012 agus tá fáil ar an tseirbhís in 130 tír ar fud an domhain anois. Is minic a bhuann cláracha agus scannáin a chraoltar den chéad uair ar an tseirbhís gradaim mhóra idirnáisiúnta
