Níos mó daoine básaithe de dheasca Covid-19 ná mar a maraíodh le linn na dTrioblóidí

| NÓS Suíomh Gréasáin |

Tá níos mó daoine in Éirinn tar éis bás a fháil de dheasca an víris chorónaigh ná mar a maraíodh o thús deireadh na dTrioblóidí ó 1969 go 1998. De réir na bhfigiúirí is deireanaí a d’eisigh na rialtais ó thuaidh agus ó dheas, tá 3,537 duine in Éirinn tar éis bás a fháil de dheasca Covid-19 – 1,311 sa Tuaisceart agus 2,226 sa gcuid eile den tír.

Fágann sé sin go bhfuil níos mó daoine tar éis bás a fháil mar gheall ar an víreas nua le deich mí anuas ná mar a maraíodh le linn na dtríocha bliain a bhí na Trioblóidí ar siúl. Is deacair greim a fháil ar staitisticí cruinne faoi líon na ndaoine a maraíodh le linn na coimhlinte, thuaidh agus theas, ach tugtar an figiúr 3,532, idir chomraiceoirí agus shibhialtaigh, ar an suíomh ‘Conflict Archive on the Internet’ – tionscadal de chuid Ollscoil Uladh.

Fógraíodh 2,143 cás nua den víreas corónach sa Tuaisceart inniu – an líon is mó cásanna in aon lá amháin ó thús na paindéime. Ba i mBéal Feirste a tuairiscíodh an chéad chás den víreas in Éirinn i mí an Mhárta agus bhí 70,905 cás sa réigiún ó shin.

Ar an taobh eile den teorainn, fógraíodh 1,718 cás den víreas tráthnóna – i bhfad níos mó ná an 1,546 cás a fógraíodh inné. Tá líon iomlán na gcásanna ó dheas anois níos mó ná 90,000. Thuairiscigh NPHET 13 bás eile inniu freisin, rud a thug líon iomlán na mbásanna os cionn an fhigiúir a luann Ollscoil Uladh leis na Trioblóidí.

Tá an dá réigiún faoi dhianghlasáil arís agus srianta Leibhéal 5 díreach fógartha ag an Taoiseach don chéad mhí eile.
