Níos mó ná leath de scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge an Tuaiscirt taobh le cóiríocht shealadach

| Tuairisc.ie | ,

Dúradh ag cruinniú de Choiste Oideachais Fheidhmeannas Stormont an tseachtain seo nach raibh foirgneamh buan ach ag Gaelscoil amháin taobh amuigh de Bhéal Feirste, sin Gaelscoil na gCrann atá lonnaithe ar an Ómaigh, i gcontae Thír Eoghain.

Breis agus 7,000 dalta atá ag fáil a gcuid oideachais i nGaeilge ó thuaidh. Tuairim is 5,500 dalta atá ag freastal ar scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge agus 1,500 dalta atá ag freastal ar shruthanna Gaeilge atá ceangailte le scoileanna Béarla.

Faoi láthair, tá 14 naíscoil i mBéal Feiste, agus an chéad naíscoil Ghaeilge le hoscailt in oirthear na cathrach san fhómhar. Naoi nGaelscoil ar fad atá i mBéal Feirste agus meánscoil amháin, Coláiste Feirste.

Tá 30 naíscoil Ghaeilge lasmuigh de Bhéal Feirste, 20 Gaelscoil agus meánscoil amháin eile, Gaelcholáiste Dhoire, i nDún Geimhin.

Dúirt Mac Giolla Bhéin gur “fadhb mhór” í an chóiríocht shealadach d’earnáil an ghaeloideachais.

“I nDoire mar shampla, tá trí Ghaelscoil ag brath ar chóiríocht shealadach cé go bhfuil líon na ndaltaí ansin ag dul i méid go mór,” a dúirt sé.

Dúradh ag an chruinniú go rabhthas ag súil go mbeadh níos mó ná 10,000 dalta ag fáil a gcuid oideachais trí Ghaeilge faoi cheann trí nó ceithre bliana.

Pléadh ag an chruinniú chomh maith an “ganntanas mór” múinteoirí Gaeilge a bhfuil sainscileanna acu i réimse na luathbhlianta, dúshlán eile don earnáil sin.

Cháin Mac Giolla Bhéin chomh maith cinneadh conspóideach na Comhairle Curaclaim, Scrúdúcháin agus Measúnaithe (CCEA) an scrúdú cainte a chur ar ceal do dhaltaí atá ag déanamh staidéar ar theangacha don GCSE nó an A-Leibhéal in 2022.

“Cad is fiú teanga gan í a labhairt? a dúirt sé.

In áit an scrúdú cainte a chur ar ceal, dúirt sé gur cheart cur leis na deiseanna a bhíonn ag daoine óga teangacha eile a úsáid.
