Dar liom go raibh an ceart aige, ní dhearna mé a leithéid riamh, ag an am sin nó uaidh, cé go ndearnadh ormsa na céadta uaireanta. 

Miotas a bhí ann, ach miotas éifeachtach. Peaca mór a bheadh ann a leithéid a dhéanamh i saol na Gaeilge. 

Dála an scéil, cha raibh an Ghaeilge agam chun daoine eile a cheartú ar bhealach ar bith. Bhí Gaeilge s’agamsa an-lochtach, mar atá i gcónaí, agus chan fhuair mé greim cheart ar an chaighdeán riamh (shéanfainn sin in aon agallamh poist dar ndóigh). Ach bhí sé de nós agam, mar atá go fóill, éisteacht le taifeadáin ón chartlann, chuir sé sin isteach go mór ar na mic léinn eile ar chúis nár thuig mé riamh. 

Bhí Gaeilge na scoileanna gramadaí ag bunús na mic léinn ag an am, gramadach chruinn. Ach mar sin féin, tá fios níos fearr agamsa uirthi mar Ghaeilge ná mar atá cuid mhaith daoine a bhfuil aithne agam orthu – agus níos measa ná mar atá sé ag cuid eile. 

Cluinim daoine, cairde, ag déanamh na mbotún céanna, arís is arís agus arís eile. 

Focal ar bith cha ndeirimse. Gramadach go deo ní cheartóidh mé. 

Éistim leis na meancóga go béasach, ní chuireann sé isteach nó amach orm ach smaoiním anois ar an teanga ag saothrú a báis, an féidir liom cabhrú léi?

An bhfuil sé in am dom bealach béasach a aimsiú chun daoine a cheartú? An bhfuil a leithéid de bhealach ann?

An ionann ceartú in amanna agus eolas a roinnt nó an fearr fanacht i mo thost agus bolgam eile de mo phionta a ól?

Maidir liom féin, d’íocfainn airgead tirim do dhuine dá mbeadh siad sásta anailís a dhéanamh ar mo chuid Gaeilge féin ag an phointe seo. 

Ba bhreá liom ceartú, ní sa teach tábhairne, agus ní ó dhuine nach bhfuil an teanga acu go cuimsitheach ach oiread ach ó shaineolaithe.

Tá mé ag smaoineamh go mbeadh a leithéid de rud agus ‘cóitseáil d’fheidhmneannaigh’ iontach oiriúnach agus go mbeadh rath ar dhuine a rachadh i mbun a leithéid de ghnó.
