Cliodhna Cussen, an dealbhóir agus údar Gaeilge aitheanta, tar éis bháis

| Tuairisc.ie | ,

Tá an dealbhóir, ealaíontóir agus údar Gaeilge aitheanta, Cliodhna Cussen, tar éis bháis.

Saolaíodh Cliodhna Cussen sa Chaisleán Nua in iarthar Luimnigh sa bhliain 1932.

Tá sí áirithe ar dhuine de shárdhealbhóirí na hÉireann agus tá a saothar le feiceáil in áiteanna poiblí ar fud na tíre, i mBaile Átha Cliath go háirithe.

D’fhreastail sí ar an ollscoil i mBaile Átha Cliath agus i bhFlórans, san Iodáil.

I mBaile Átha Cliath a chaith sí formhór a saoil, mar a raibh sí pósta leis an bhfoilsitheoir agus gníomhaí teanga Pádraig Ó Snodaigh. Seisear clainne a bhí orthu.

Ag saothrú le cré-umha agus le cloch a bhíodh sí den chuid is mó ina cuid dealbhóireachta.

An dealbh Steine nó ‘An Chloch Fhada’

Ar na saothair is cáiliúla léi, tá an dealbh de Naomh Pádraig ar Mhám Éan i gConamara, an dealbh Steine nó ‘An Chloch Fhada’ atá lonnaithe san áit a dtagann Sráid na Phiarsaigh agus Sráid an Choláiste le chéile, an dealbh ‘Who Made The World’ i nDroichead na Dothra agus an Gallán Gréine ar na mBaile Gaelach.

Bhuaigh Cliodhna duais dá cuid dealbhóireachta ag an Oireachtas agus ghnóthaigh sí chomh maith Bonn Órga Lios Tuathail don dealbhóireacht.

Údar agus file ab ea Cliodhna Cussen chomh maith. I measc na saothar léi tá Soraidh Slán (1993) agus Ar Dheisiúr na Gréine (2006) a bhuaigh duaiseanna Oireachtais.

Athinsint ar imeachtaí as Leabhar Gabhála a bhí i Teacht na nGael go hÉirinn (1995) agus saol Eibhlín Dubh Ní Chonaill a bhí faoi chaibidil aici in An Eochair (2014).

Ar na leabhar eile uaithi bhí An Eala Dhubh (1996), Sifíní, bailiúchán filíochta (2001), Cath Chluain Tarbh (2003), Conall agus Údaí (2005) agus Turasanna (2011).

Maireann a fear, Pádraig, a gclann Aengus, Cormac, Rossa, Fergus, Rónán agus Colm, gaolta agus cairde léi.
