Múinteoirí ó thuaidh ar stailc inné

| Dáithí Anraí |

Bhí na céadta múinteoirí ó thuaidh ar lá iomlán stailce inné agus bhailigh go leor acu ag Halla na Cathrach i gCathair Bhéal Feirste. Tháinig na ceithre cheardchumann do mhúinteoirí le chéile don lá: Cumann Múinteroirí Éireann (INTO), Cumann Múinteoirí Uladh (UTU), an Cumann Oideachais Náisiúnta (NEU) agus Cumann Náisiúnta na Máistrí Scoile agus Aontas na mBanmhúinteoirí (NASUWT). Ar a bharr sin bhí Cumann Náisiúnta na bPríomhoidí Scoile (NAHT) páirteach sa stailc den chéad uair i 125 bliana, rud atá an-suntasach ar fad agus a léiríonn cé chomh holc is atá rudaí do mhúinteoirí anois, go háirithe ó thaobh cúrsaí pá de.

An phríomhchúis ar tugadh faoin ghníomhaíocht stailce seo ná an t-easaontas atá ann faoi phá múinteoirí ó thuaidh. Le breis agus bliain anuas tá sáinn ann i dtaca le cúrsaí pá do mhúinteoirí i dTuaisceart na hÉireann. I mí Feabhra 2022, dhiúltaigh na ceardchumainn an tairiscint ó fhostóirí do 2021-2023 mar go raibh sé easnamhnach mar phá.

Dúnadh formhór na scoileanna sa tuaisceart toisc go raibh na múinteoirí ag Halla na Cathrach nó ag geataí na scoile don líne phicéid. Labhair Meon Eile le Cumann Múinteoirí Éireann faoin cheist: Uachtarán an Chumainn, Dorothy Nic Fhionnghaile agus Leaschathaoirleach Choiste an Tuaiscirt, Caoimhín Mac Colaim.
