Mórshiúil ar son Seirbhísí Teaghlaigh a Shabháil

Léirsiú ar son seirbhísí teaghlaigh

| Dáithí Anraí |

Sna míonna amach romhainn, caillfidh roinnt seirbhísí teaghlaigh, grúpaí pobail agus ionaid phobail an maoiniú atá acu dá gcláir iarscoile agus dá seirbhísí cúraim leanaí. Ní hamháin go mbeidh tionchar diúltach aige seo ar pháistí, ar thuismitheoirí agus ar na pobail, ach beidh roinnt daoine as obair chomh maith.

Tháinig grúpaí ó gach cearn den Tuaisceart le chéile i mBéal Feirste ar na mallaibh le léirsiú a shiúl ó Ionad Uíbh Eachach go Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich mar ráiteas láidir i gcoinne na gciorruithe ar an mhaoiniú.

Líonadh na sráideanna le gníomhaithe, idir óg agus aosta, agus iad ag iompar plaiceard agus ag canadh ‘Sábháil ár seirbhísí’. Ghlac páistí ó Ghaelscoil na bhFál, Scoil an Droichid, Coláiste Feirste agus Ionad Uíbh Eachach páirt ann chomh maith.

Ag deireadh an mhórshiúil labhair Brian Mac an tSionnaigh agus Eibhlín Poland ó Ionad Uíbh Eachach, chomh maith le Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin ó Fhís an Phobail agus roinnt comhairleoirí áitiúla, Gerry Carroll ón PBP ina measc, a dúirt gur ionsaí ar an aicme oibre a bhí sna ciorruithe seo.

Beidh léirsiú ag Halla na Cathrach i mBéal Feirste Déardaoin 25 Bealtaine chun agóid eile a dhéanamh i gcoinne na gciorruithe.

Seo thíos ráiteas ón Roinn Oideachais maidir leis an cheist:

“The Department has now received its budget allocation for 2023-24 from the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and is working through the detail. The allocation is extremely challenging and will likely require significant reductions across a wide range of areas to remain within budget.

“However, to sustain important Early Years services over the first three months of the financial year, DE made an interim allocation of funding of £1.05m in respect of the Pathway Fund and £250,714 in respect of the Bright Start Grant Scheme  for the period 1 April 2023 to 30 June 2023 of which Ionad Uíbh Eachach received £7,499.80 for Pathway funding and £4,642.98 for Bright Start.

“The Department will confirm the final Pathway Fund allocation and the future of Bright Start funding post June 2023 following consideration of the education budget.”
