‘Go deimhin, ní ghráim thú le mo shúile’ — Soinéad Shakespeare as Gaeilge

| NÓS Suíomh Gréasáin |

Tá ceann de shoinéid an fhile mhóir Shasanaigh, William Shakespeare, curtha i nGaeilge an aisteoir Eoin Ó Dubhghaill. Rinneadh ceiliúradh ar fud an domhain Béarla inné ar bhreithlá an drámadóra mhóir, a rugadh sa mbliain 1564.

Mar chuid den cheiliúradh sin, reáchtáladh Féile Soinéad in South Carolina inné mar ar aithris an t-aisteoir Juliette Crosbie, as Contae Lú, Soinéad 141 as Gaeilge. Ar ndóigh, ní rabhthas in ann teacht le chéile mar is ceart don fhéile mar gheall ar na srianta atá i bhfeidhm le dul i ngleic leis an víreas corónach, ach reáchtáladh an ócáid ar leathanach Facebook na féile.

Seo thíos leagan Eoin Uí Dhubhghaill den soinéad:

Go deimhin, ní ghráim thú le mo shúil,

Mar feiceann siad gach fabht is locht;

Ach is mo chroí a luíonn mo dhúil,

Ceal aire ar mo shúile bocht’;

Agus ní mo chluasa agat faoi gheasa,

Ná mo thadhall ag do cholainn lách,

Agus dá mbeifeá mar bhéile ag mo shrón is mo theanga,

Tá a fhios agam cinnte nach mbeadh siad sách:

Ach ní sháródh cúig, nó caoga, nó na céadta céadfa,

Mo chroí, atá mar sclábhaí faoi do threoir,

Fear a leanfadh chuile fhocal a déarfá

Fear truamhéalach, lag ag do ghlór:
Cé go bhfuilim cloíte cráite,

Tá faoiseamh agam i bpian mo pheaca.
