An Chaint

An bhfuil tĂș ag iarraidh nĂos mĂł Gaeilge a ĂșsĂĄid i do shaol?

BĂodh ‘An Chaint’ agat. D’fhĂ©adadh sĂ© a bheith le cara, le comhghleacaĂ nĂł le duine i do theaghlach.

Is Ă©ard atĂĄ i gceist leis An Chaint nĂĄ feachtas atĂĄ dĂrithe ar dhaoine a chur ag machnamh faoi ĂșsĂĄid na Gaeilge ina saol fĂ©in.

Må tå aithne agat ar dhuine a bhfuil Gaeilge aige nó aici agus bíonn sibh ag labhairt as Béarla lena chéile, bíodh an Chaint agaibh.

‘Tá Gaeilge agat nach bhfuil?’
‘Tá, go deimhin.’
‘Tuigim nĂĄr labhair muid le chĂ©ile cheana Ă, ach cĂ©n fĂĄth nach dtosaĂonn muid?’
‘Ceart agat, tosóimid anois.’

MĂĄs foghlaimeoir thĂș bĂodh an Chaint agat le cur le do chuid cĂșpla focal.

‘Tá Gaeilge agat nach bhfuil?’
‘TĂĄ, tĂĄ cĂșpla focal agam ar aon nĂłs.’
‘Is foghlaimeoir mĂ©, ach ba bhreĂĄ liom feabhas a chur ar mo chĂșpla focal fĂ©in.’
‘Suígh síos leat mar sin.’

Agus sin Ă an Chaint. BĂodh sĂ agat.

Are you looking to use more Gaeilge in your life?

If so, then you should have ‘An Chaint.’ It can be with a friend, colleague or family member.

An Chaint is a campaign which aims to encourage people to think about the use of Irish in their daily lives. If you are friendly with a person who speaks Gaeilge but who you usually talk with in English, you should have An Chaint.

‘You speak Irish don’t you?’
‘I do.’
‘I know we have never spoken it together before, but why don’t we start?’
‘Yeah, let’s give it a go.’

If you are learning Irish, have An Chaint to add to your cĂșpla focal.

‘You speak Gaeilge do you not?’
‘I do, only a small bit though.’
‘I’m learning myself and I’d love to add to my cĂșpla focal.’
‘Sure take a seat so, we’ll give it a try.’

And that is An Chaint. Give it a go.
