‘An Chaint’ / The ‘Talk’
Déantar cur síos san alt seo ar fheachtas a sheoladh i 2028, ach atá úsáideach fós.
An bhfuil tú ag iarraidh níos mó Gaeilge a úsáid i do shaol?
Bíodh ‘an Chaint’ agat. D’fhéadadh sé a bheith le cara, le comhghleacaí nó le duine i do theaghlach.
Is éard atá i gceist leis ‘an Chaint’ ná feachtas atá dírithe ar dhaoine a chur ag machnamh faoi úsáid na Gaeilge ina saol féin.
Má tá aithne agat ar dhuine a bhfuil Gaeilge aige nó aici agus bíonn sibh ag labhairt as Béarla lena chéile, bíodh ‘an Chaint’ agaibh:
– ‘Tá Gaeilge agat nach bhfuil?’ – ‘Tá, go deimhin.’ – ‘Tuigim nár labhair muid le chéile cheana í, ach cén fáth nach dtosaíonn muid?’ – ‘Ceart agat, tosóimid anois.’ |
Más foghlaimeoir thú bíodh an Chaint agat le cur le do chuid cúpla focal:
– ‘Tá Gaeilge agat nach bhfuil?’ – ‘Tá, tá cúpla focal agam ar aon nós.’ – ‘Is foghlaimeoir mé, ach ba bhreá liom feabhas a chur ar mo chúpla focal féin.’ – ‘Suígh síos leat mar sin.’ |
Agus sin í ‘an Chaint’. Bíodh sí agat.
Are you looking to use more Gaeilge in your life?
If so, then you should have ‘An Chaint.’ It can be with a friend, colleague or family member.
‘An Chaint’ is a campaign which aims to encourage people to think about the use of Irish in their daily lives.
If you are friendly with a person who speaks Gaeilge but who you usually talk with in English, you should have ‘An Chaint’:
– ‘You speak Irish don’t you?’ – ‘I do.’ – ‘I know we have never spoken it together before, but why don’t we start?’ – ‘Yeah, let’s give it a go.’ |
If you are learning Irish, have ‘An Chaint’ to add to your cúpla focal:
– ‘You speak Gaeilge do you not?’ – ‘I do, only a small bit though.’ – ‘I’m learning myself and I’d love to add to my cúpla focal.’ – ‘Sure take a seat so, we’ll give it a try.’ |
And that is ‘An Chaint’. Give it a go.
